Shatto’s Family Day at The Farm & Other Weekend Possibilities

Ever wanted to meet a cow? Realize your dream at Family Day at the Farm with the Shatto Milk Company (9406 N. Highway 33, Osborn, Missouri). Take a hayride, pet a baby calf, learn how Shatto makes cheese and sample their new limited-release flavor: peaches and cream. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Find some Jack-O-Lantern inspiration at Faulkner’s Ranch (10600 Raytown Road). Pumpkin season starts Sunday, and Faulkner’s will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a zipline, pumpkin spice donuts, a field maze and animals on the farm.
Parkway Social Kitchen (616 Ward Parkway) opened yesterday in the former Coal Vines space on the Country Club Plaza. Executive chef Sam Hefter was last the culinary manager at The Rockhille Grille, which is also owned by the Back Napkin Restaurant Group. The BNRG, co-founded by Zach Marten and Bret Springs, also owns and operates the Westport Ale House.

The next step in your morning cup evolution? Roasting your own beans. Maps Coffee Guest Roaster night (13440 Santa Fe Trail Drive, Lenexa, Kansas) is a three-hour class where you learn about coffee origins, how to roast coffee and leave with two pounds of freshly roasted coffee. The next class ($40) is 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
After 16 years in the River Market, Café Al Dente (412 Delaware St., Suite D) is closing this Saturday, as its lease will not be renewed. Snag a slice of their garlic or garlic cheese bread, which they sell by the slice.
Get back to your childhood with a screening of Goonies. The city of Fairway, Kansas, is hosting the outdoor showing of the kid caper flick at the Shawnee Indian Mission Kansas Historical Site (3403 N. 53rd Terr., Kansas City, Kansas). The movie begins roughly at 7:30 p.m. It’s bring your own lawn chair or blanket, and they’ll have popcorn and drinks for sale.

Rhythm N Brunch, a curated playlist of old school tunes served alongside brunch, is back at the Kansas City Juke House (1700 E. 18th St.) from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10.
