Get away from the city this week and discover life on the farm with Gather & Grow this Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. The third annual benefit for Boys Grow features food from chefs Howard Hanna, John Smith, and Ted Habiger, alongside beers from Brewery Emperial (the new downtown brewery that counts Habiger among its partners), wine, and cocktails. There’s a farm tour at 5 p.m. and dinner kicks off an hour later. Just a note, it’s BYOP (bring your own plate). Tickets are $125.

The 7th annual Maker Faire is Saturday and Sunday at Union Station [Note: KCPT & 90.9 The Bridge are sponsors]. It’s a collection of do-it-yourself enthusiasts, makers (Amigo Joe’s smoked corn salsa and Jarretts Fruit Tea, among them) and a host of food trucks. There’s a pop-up craft fair, a KCPT kidszone, a car show, and plenty of ways to get inspired to tackle a project of your own.
The Bingham-Waggoner Estate (313 W Pacific Avenue, Independence, Missouri) is hosting Breakfast & Blooms on Saturday. Breakfast — think eggs and potatoes — is served from 8 to 10 a.m. and the gardens are open between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 and advance registration is required.
Get your blues and barbecue in one spot at the Sherwood Autism Center (8030 Ward Parkway Plaza) on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Blues & Barbecue features a full day of live music and barbecue from BB’s Lawnside Bar-B-Q. Tickets are $20.
Meet the breweries of the future at the eight annual Kansas City Nanobrew Festival on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. It’s a beer festival designed to highlight local homebrewers and area microbreweries. They’ll have more than 250 kinds of beer on hand at Berkley Riverfront Park (1298 E Riverfront Drive). Tickets are $35.

Julep is hosting a Benefit for Lula on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. to raise funds to cover the medical care costs of Lula Williams, the daughter of Julep owners Beau Williams and Keely Edgington Williams. A $5 donation at the door gets you a free Old Fashioned. After that, there’s live music, happy hour specials when the door opens early, and a silent auction that will catch the attention of spirits lovers.
Urbana is Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Power & Light District. The downtown street festival is on 14th Street between Main and Walnut. There will be live music and plenty of eats and drinks. You can buy a ticket for Rosé All Day ($25) from 2 to 5 p.m., a rosé tasting from five restaurants and bars.
