Now you can find a local farm (or farmer) to love. The 19th annual Eat Local + Organic Expo, hosted by the Kansas City Food Circle, returns this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Johnson County Community College (12345 College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas). Farmers will be on hand to sell greens, herbs, free-range meat, as well as to chat about community supported agriculture subscriptions. Every hour, on the hour, they’ll have a 15-minute workshop on how to eat local.

The Roasterie’s monthly food truck brunch returns this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot across from their factory (1204 W 27th Street). Tito’s BBQ, Slater’s, El Tenedor, and Pita for Good will be on hand. You can also have coffee drinks and Sporting KC is bringing a mobile futsal court.

Can I Have a Bite (633 E 63rd Street) is celebrating its grand opening on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Owner Kathy Hale focuses on creating interesting dishes for folks with specific dietary needs: paleo, vegan, and vegetarian. Aep Thai (1815 W 39th Street) has opened its patio and, as it was with Thomas (Aep’s predecessor), it’s one of the hidden gems of 39th Street. Don’t know what to order? Consider the mushroom pad see ew featured in our story last December.

Brown & Loe (429 Walnut Street) is holding an Irish Whiskey tasting on Sunday night from 5 to 7 p.m. It’s $30 and advance tickets are required. Call 816-472-0622 to book a seat.
