Donuts & Coffee-Infused Beers & Other Weekend Possibilities

Maybe you’d like a donut with your beer? Tapcade NKC (1735 Swift Avenue, North Kansas City, Missouri) is hosting a Donuts and Coffee-Infused Beers event with Cinder Block Brewery on Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. Cinder Block will be randalling (a device that allows beer to be infused with a given spice, herb, or in this case coffee) their Pavers Porter through coffee beans and Tapcade NKC will be giving you a donut for each beer you buy (while supplies last).

KC Cookie Dough Madness (9928 Holmes) opens today at 4 p.m. The new brick-and-mortar spot serves up edible cookie dough in cone form. You can get scoops of dough or take home pints of flavors like double chocolate chip, peanut butter craze, and brownie love. And for those wondering, they do serve gluten-free cookie dough.

The Sandbar (17 E 8th Street, Lawrence, Kansas) hosts its annual block party tonight and tomorrow. The beer gardens opens at 5 p.m. both nights. In addition to live acts, a Captain Jack Sparrow impersonator will be there Saturday. The party is between 8th and New Hampshire in downtown Lawrence.

New Belgium Brewing Co. is bringing its roving beer carnival — Tour De Fat — to town. It’s circus acts, a fashion show (featuring attendees in carnival-inspired costume), and plenty of beer at CrossroadsKC at Grinders (417 E 18th Street). The doors open Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Atlas Genius takes the stage at 9:30 p.m., and the event runs until 11 p.m.

Pizza Bar (1320 Grand Boulevard) knows you’ve got to go back in time. They’re throwing a Back to the 80’s Party on Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. There’s a costume and hair contest (yes, those are separate contests), as well as Zima and Jell-o shot specials.

The Farmers House (23200 Highway 233 North, Weston, Missouri) is having its annual Corn Fest on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s grilled corn on the cob, corn relish, a corn eating contest, and a corniest joke contest. For those who need non-corn items, they’ll also be selling barbecue, apple fritters, and apple slushies.

The Heart of America Hot Dog Festival is back this Saturday from 2 to 11 p.m. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (1616 E 18th Street) hosts the annual summer celebration with a performance by funk bank Zapp and a host of hot dog options. The newest addition is the “El Maestro,” named for former ballplayer Martin Dihigo and featuring pico de gallo, chorizo chili, queso fresco and a tortilla chip garnish on a Farmland Boulevard bratwurst.

The Cherry Pit Collective (604 E 31st Street) celebrates its first anniversary on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. The party will feature a cherry seed spitting contest, a La Croix bar (with options to spike your sparkling soda), a birthday cake with rainbow sprinkles, Cinder Block brews, hot dogs, and picnic sides.
