Feast & Other Weekend Possibilities

Movement KC is hoping to bring people together during a week-long series of dinners called Feast. The mash-up of test kitchen and community building kicks off this Friday in Midtown with seven chefs presenting themed dinners (Southern inspiration to “Birthday Surprise”) over the next two weeks. Eze Redwood, co-owner of Wings Cafe, will present dinner on the final night (Saturday, April 21), while chef Justin Clark of Urban Cafe will design the menu on Wednesday, April 18. The dinners are 20 seats total, and you’ve got to secure your tickets online in advance.

Channel your inner Urkel at 90’s Night. Howl at the Moon (1334 Grand Boulevard) is hosting a ’90s-themed party from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday in the Power & Light District.

Crows Coffee (535 E. Red Bridge Road) has opened in Red Bridge. Crows serves pour over, batch brew, and espresso-based drinks, as well as breakfast burritos and pastries. The Red Bridge coffee shop is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. This marks the third location for Crows; the others are in Waldo (7440 Washington St.) and the South Plaza (304 E. 51st St.).

If you don’t have rosé in your repertoire, this is an easy way to fix that. Terra Firma is hosting a Rosé Festival from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the River Market Event Place (140 Walnut St.). Sample more than 20 different kinds of rosé. Wine bottles will also be available for purchase.

Tribe Street Kitchen (316 Delaware St.) is open in the River Market. The menu is a world tour: ceviche, Vietnamese chicken wings, street tacos, and chimichurri on steak all live together. The new eatery has a full bar, which also reads like a global greatest hits album with negroni, sangria, and a gin and tonic representing Italy, Spain, and Britain, respectively. For those waiting for a table or a seat, there’s the “wait drink,” a cocktail on special that’s meant to help you pass the time. Tribe is open from 11 to 1:30 a.m. daily (the kitchen closes at midnight.).

Since sunshine is threatening to be a regular occurrence in Kansas City, it’s worth noting that Tropical Sno (222 W. 85th St.) is back open for the season. The Waldo ice cream shop dishes up shaved ice treats and dip cones (chocolate, butterscotch topping that hardens atop soft serve ice cream). If you’re there Saturday, get yourself a Carnival (a coffee and cotton candy creation) in the same shopping center from Second Best Coffee. Neighboring Walsh’s Corner Cocktail (304 W. 85th St.) is also celebrating its 40th anniversary on Sunday. The festivities kick off at 2 p.m.

Two words: cider slushies. The liquid herald of spring and fall will be served alongside cider donuts and barbecue at the Cider Hill Family Orchard’s Apple Blossom Festival, which runs Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The orchard is at 3341 N 139th St.
