Tap List | Your Father’s Day Beer Event Guide

If your dad is anything like mine, he’s a huge craft beer lover. Or, maybe you’re a craft beer loving dad yourself.

No matter the situation, multiple breweries in the metro area have great events planned for the upcoming Father’s Day weekend. Instead of making you search through every single brewery’s events page to see what’s going on, we thought we’d do the heavy lifting for you.

Despite the fact that Father’s Day is on Sunday, you can kick the weekend off early at KC Bier Co. They are hosting a full weekend of events to celebrate the dads out there. On Saturday they’ll be featuring two live bands, Polka on Steroids from 3-5 p.m. and The Cheap Dates from 6-9 p.m. Sunday will feature Jazz with Bram & Co from 3-5 p.m. All weekend long KC Bier Co. will be offering their Welt Bester Papa (World’s Best Dad) mug for $10 or you can purchase the mug with one full pour for $14.

Servaes Brewing Co. in Shawnee also will be getting in on the Father’s Day fun. On Saturday they’re hosting a Father’s Day Beer Release & Bourbon Ball Pop-Up event. Servaes will be hosting the Bootleg Bourbon Balls from 1-4 p.m. They’ll be releasing two different beers this day — Dad’s Day American IPA and Blind Pig Bourbon Ball Stout. The stout is meant to pair with the bourbon balls as it was actually made with bourbon balls, lactose, bacon flavoring and toasted pecans. You can also pre-order bourbon balls from Bootleg for pick up at the brewery via their website.

If you want to celebrate dad on Sunday, you’ll still have plenty of options.

Transport Brewery in Shawnee is teaming up with Creekstone Farms, Smoke on Wheels and Midwest Mex. They’ll be hosting a Dad’s Day Brew & Que: Premium Meat & Beer Pairing Dinner For 2. The event features a four-course meal with each course paired with a different specialty beer. You’ll also be able to pick your beer of choice as your welcome beer upon arrival. Not only do the tickets include the delicious meal, but you’ll receive an exclusive event t-shirt and a bottle of BBQ sauce to take home. Tickets are $110 for two people.

If you’re looking for something a little more low key, you can check out ExBEERiment in Gardner or Red Crow Brewing in Olathe. ExBEERiment is hosting a Father’s Day Steal The Glass event. Dads can take home their branded pint glass with the purchase of a full beer. Supplies are on a first come, first serve basis. Red Crow will be hosting a special Father’s Day version of their Sunday bingo events. The event is family-friendly and free for all to play.

Beer Releases

Strange Days Brewing — 316 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — added their newest beer to their tap list called Memory Hole. The beer is a 5.4% ABV hazy pale ale brewed with flaked wheat and Mosaic and Sabro Cryo hops. The tropical aromas of orange, pineapple and cantaloupe lead to a pillowy mouthfeel making it perfect for the hot summer days.

Wind Shift Brewing — 3421B N.W. Jefferson St., Blue Springs, Missouri — was hoping to save their newest beer for the anniversary, but it finished up a little early. Strawberries Basil & Cream is their very first imperial pastry sour and it’s a big one at 8.6% ABV. You’ll get some strawberry on the nose, but the flavor is balanced out nicely by the basil.

Casual Animal — 1725 McGee St., Kansas City, Missouri — brewed a collaboration beer with Odell Brewing out of Fort Collins, Colorado. The duo created Animal Control, a 5.5% ABV cold IPA. The beer has fruity aromas and a bright hop finish.

East Forty Brewing — 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Missouri — tapped the first of their anniversary beers, Mr. Lebowski, a white stout. The beer is inspired by the White Russian and brewed with lactose, cocoa nibs, vanilla and coffee. It clocks in at 8.7% ABV and is being poured via their nitro tap line helping to give it a nice, smooth mouthfeel.

Apex Aleworks — 4356 S. Noland Road, Independence, Missouri — has a special treat on tap. They just released their new Wild Tryst, a barrel-aged American porter that’s been aging in Wild Turkey barrels for the past nine months. The beer is chock full of chocolate flavor and at 9.5% ABV is definitely a sipper!

Servaes Brewing Co. — 10921 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — just released Ever After – Rainbow, a sour ale brewed in honor of Pride Month. This 4.5% ABV sour has lactose and is heavily fruited with strawberry, blood orange puree and rainbow candies (think Skittles). You can get it on tap at their brewery or to-go in 16-ounce cans.

Lost Evenings Brewing Co. — 8625 Hauser Court, Lenexa, Kansas — is very excited for the final film of the Jurassic Park series and has the beer to prove it. Paddock 9 is a 6% ABV New England IPA named after the enclosure holding the T-Rex in the original Jurassic Park movie. It’s double dry-hopped with Zamba which helps give it flavors of tropical fruits, stone fruits, candy and orange/tangerine.

Red Crow Brewing Co. — 1062 W. Santa Fe St., Olathe, Kansas — teamed up with the crew at Vine Street Brewing for a collaboration beer. Dubbed C.R.E.A.M (Collabs Rule Everything Around Me), the beer is a 5% ABV dry-hopped cream ale. The beer has tropical flavors of pineapple, pear, and watermelon. The beer’s light body makes it very easy to drink.

Friday, June 17

Crane Brewing Co. — 6515 Railroad St., Raytown, Missouri — is kicking off a series of pop-up bar events by Apparition. Themed after Greek mythology, the pop-up bar will have you drinking alongside the gods on Mount Olympus. The pop-up bar will be featured at Crane over the next six weekends with various events, including beer olympics, planned.

Saturday, June 18

East Forty Brewing — 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Missouri — welcomes back Trinity Wellness for their monthly Yoga & Brew class. The yoga class, open to all skill levels, combines mindful movement and breathing. It’s perfect for anyone looking to increase their flexibility or relieve their stress. This class requires advanced registration which can be done through the Trinity Wellness website.

Lost Evenings Brewing Co. — 8625 Hauser Court, Lenexa, Kansas — is hosting the female owned and operated Sawdust In My Wineglass for a special pop-up shop. The company specializes in high quality home decor and furniture. They will be featuring ready-made items, but will also be taking customized orders. They’ll be on site from 1-4 p.m.

Sandhills Brewing — 5612 Johnson Drive, Mission, Kansas — is getting in on the brewhouse yoga events. They’ll be hosting Poses & Pints taught by yoga instructor Christi Brunner. The hour-long class will feature a gentle yoga flow perfect for all skill levels. The ticket includes one full pour of beer after the class wraps up.

Sunday, June 19

Mission Pup Crawl — Johnson Drive, Mission, Kansas — will be happening across multiple locations in Mission to benefit the Unleashed Pet Rescue. You can swing into Mission breweries Sandhills Brewing and Rockcreek Brewing Co. for specials all day long. Sully’s Bar and Keyhole Lounge also will be participating in the event. Each establishment will be donating proceeds from the event to Unleashed.
