Tap List | Where To Have A Hoppy Fourth of July Weekend

While it may sound crazy, the Fourth of July holiday weekend is fast approaching. We know that usually means things like grilling out with friends and family, watching fireworks and of course drinking some beers. If grilling out isn’t your thing, consider swinging into one of these breweries for some holiday weekend festivities.

You can kick off the weekend at Servaes Brewing Co. in Shawnee, Kansas. Starting on Friday, they’ll be releasing four new beers over the course of the weekend with all of them being available on tap and in mixed four-packs. The releases will be Like Butterflies-Freedom Popsicle (sour wit bier), JOCO Loco (watermelon margarita gose), Spring Break! Strawberry Daiquiri! (sour ale), and Shari’s Homemade Ice Cream (imperial sweet stout). In case that’s not enough for you, they’ll also be serving up fun drinks like beer floats, soda floats, beermosas and mimosas. 

After taking Saturday to recover, you’ve got your choice of two different events on Sunday, July 3.

If you’re looking for a bit of a physical challenge head on over to East Forty Brewing in Independence, Missouri. They’ve partnered with Trinity Wellness to put on their annual Bootcamp & Brew event. This family-friendly event will feature a mix of exercises ranging from strength training to bodyweight exercises to cardio. You’ll be in teams of four or five people competing for the first place trophy and bragging rights. After the bootcamp is done you can replenish those carbs with a pint of your choice, which is included in the ticket price.

Once you’re done getting swole with your friends and/or family, take a drive over to Crane Brewing Co. in Raytown, Missouri. They’ll be hosting a party at their taphouse. The event will feature live music from The Screeching Halts and delicious Mexican hot dogs courtesy of Rockin’ Tacos. They’ll also be putting out a special release beer, but have yet to announce exactly what it is yet. Make sure to keep an eye on their social media pages for the official announcement.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Fourth of July party being thrown by Limitless Brewing in Lenexa, Kansas. They’ll be having their event on July 4. They’ll be grilling up some hot dogs for you to enjoy alongside your beer. Live music will be provided by Phil the Steel Drum Man. 

Beer Releases

Tall Trellis Brew Co. — 25600 W. Valley Pkwy, Olathe, Kansas — teamed up with Sandhills Brewing to collaborate on a new beer. The result is their Dry Hopped Lager, a twist on the Kansas Lager Sandhills brews. The beer comes in at 5% ABV and was dry hopped exclusively with hops from Kansas Hop Co. in Ottawa, Kansas. It’s everything you expect this beer to be. Clean, crisp, refreshing and hoppy.

Lost Evenings Brewing Co. — 8625 Hauser Court, Lenexa, Kansas — has two new beers in honor of their second anniversary. The first release is a Harry Potter inspired beer called Love Potion 9¾. It’s a 4.2% ABV butterscotch cream ale meant to mimic the popular butterbeer from the Harry Potter series. The second is Punchline, a 5% ABV raspberry amber ale that’s slightly tart from the addition of the raspberries.

3Halves Brewing Co. — 110 E. Kansas St., Liberty, Missouri — put out their newest beer, Saison 109. This beer has all the makings of a classic saison. It offers a deep amber color, spicy aroma and flavors of black pepper with that slight saison funk. It comes in at a hefty 8.6% ABV.

Rockcreek Brewing Co. — 5880 Beverly Ave., Mission, Kansas — just released their latest American IPA, Exploration. This 7% ABV beer uses an old school hop combination of Columbus, Centennial, El Dorado and Simcoe. The four hops lead to flavors of citrus and pine reminiscent of the classic West Coast IPA style.

City Barrel — 1740 Holmes St., Kansas City, Missouri — is taking you back to childhood with the latest release from their Ice Cream Truck series. Bom Pop is an 8.5% ABV IPA reminiscent of the classic Bomb Pop popsicle. The beer is brewed with cherries, limes, raspberries, vanilla and lactose to emulate those delicious popsicle flavors. This beer is bound to sell out quickly so grab it ASAP!

Alma Mader Brewery — 2635 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri — brewed a beer to help support the LGBTQIA+ community for Pride Month. Press Play is a brand new IPA hopped with Comet, Citra, Nelson Sauvin and El Dorado. This 6.8% ABV IPA is plenty juicy with lots of fruity aromas. A portion of the proceeds from this beer will benefit Inclusive KC, an organization providing safe spaces and programming for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Strange Days Brewing — 316 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — wants to paint a smile on your face with their latest hazy IPA. Bozo Syndrome (7.5% ABV) is plenty juicy. The beer has flavors of lemon-lime and tropical fruits from the Motueka hops. The Cryo Pop hops provide even more tropical, citrus and stone fruit flavors resulting in an incredibly drinkable beer.

Beer Events

Friday, July 1

Stockyards Brewing Co. — 1600 Genessee St., Ste. 100, Kansas City, Missouri — is hosting a First Friday Record Roundup event with Bostevphus. Bostevphus will be hanging out in the taproom spinning outlaw country, rockabilly, swing and honky tonk albums starting at 6 p.m. The event is free with the music going until about 9 p.m.

Saturday, July 2

3 Trails Brewing Co. — 111 N. Main St., Independence, Missouri — is taking part in a new weekly indoor/outdoor music event taking place throughout Historic Independence Square. The brewery will be hosting musicians Andrew & Kyle in their taproom for the event. Sounds on the Square kicks off at 7 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 3

Border Brewing Co. — 512 E. 18th St., Kansas City, Missouri — is calling all soccer fans. They’ll be hosting a watch party for the Sporting KC vs. NY Red Bulls game. The match will be shown on their 100-inch projector screen with the game sound on. Border is offering drink specials to any fan who shows up in their Sporting KC gear. As always, Border welcomes any outside food you’d like to bring.
