Olathe’s Red Crow Brewing Co. is celebrating its seventh birthday with special events running from Thursday through Sunday.

The festivities begin with a giveaway. Patrons who come to Red Crow will be given a ticket to be entered in their Red Crow swag basket giveaway. The basket will include merch, gift cards and bonus items that you can no longer get from the brewery. On top of that, they’ll be hosting a happy hour at their taproom Thursday from 3-6 p.m.

On Friday night Red Crow will be throwing a release party for a praline stout birthday beer. In addition to the beer release, there will be a sale on some merch items. 

On Saturday, you’ll be able to play in a fun birthday bingo event. Registration for the bingo event is highly encouraged and does guarantee you a table. Walk-ins will be first come, first served.

Last, but not least, the brewery will be offering food and drink specials all day long during its Chiefs game day Sunday party.

Beer Releases

Alma Mader Brewery — 2635 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri — is rocking two new releases this week. The first is Skychanger, a 6.8% ABV New England IPA. The beer emphasizes a couple of popular New Zealand hops leading to flavors of nectarine, key lime and pink grapefruit. They’ve also got Where The Palms Grow available. This is a West Coast IPA that comes in at 7% ABV. The beer utilizes five different hops to help give it characteristics ranging from lychee to tropical punch.

City Barrel — 1740 Holmes St., Kansas City, Missouri — did a double beer release this week. The brewery first released Famous Internet Cats. This 6.2% ABV IPA was brewed with Amarillo and Simcoe hops. The second beer, Strata-Ceratops, is also an IPA. This one comes in at 6.3% ABV and focuses on the Strata hop as the name suggests. The flaked oats give this beer a slightly elevated and creamy mouthfeel before the hops take over.

Brewery Emperial — 1829 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — decided to forgo seasonal creep and just released their festbier. This easy drinking Vienna lager was made with Vienna and pilsner malts that give it a medium body with a slight sweetness. At 5.5% ABV, it’s perfect for sunny fall days.

3Halves Brewing Co. — 110 E. Kansas St., Liberty, Missouri — has a new weekend release available. Knowing Jack is a 5.7% ABV pale ale. This beer uses Amarillo and Simcoe hops that offer aromas of citrus and fresh berries. This leads to a light sweetness from the malt followed by a bitter but clean finish.

Callsign Brewing — 1340 Burlington St., North Kansas City, Missouri — is getting smoky with its latest beer. Colonel Klink is a bourbon oak rauchbier. The beechwood smoked malts help give this beer its smoky flavor similar to those found in Islay scotches. At 5.7% ABV, it’s the perfect beer to drink while sitting around a campfire and eating smores.

East Forty Brewing — 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Missouri — put out a new beer for all of the hopheads out there. Two Track V10 is a big 9% ABV DIPA. This rotating DIPA series uses Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and BRU-1 hops in the mash and was then dry hopped with even more Mosaic and Nelson. This small batch beer will be draft only.

Servaes Brewing Co. — 10921 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — is getting into the fall spirit. In addition to the five fall-themed beers introduced at their fall fest, they just released the newest version of the Two Oceans series. The newest version of this 6% ABV sour ale series features pumpkin pie spice, vanilla and cinnamon to give it those pie-like flavors.

Beer Events

Friday, Oct. 21

KC Bier Co. — 310 W. 79th St., Kansas City, Missouri — wants you to “get hammered” at their latest event with Bier Station. The two will be hosting Hammerschlagen & Taps at Bier Station. The goal of the classic German game hammerschlagen is to be the first person to drive a nail flush into a log. There will be six different KC Bier Co. beers on draft to drink while playing the game. There will be prizes available for the winners.

Saturday, Oct. 22

Servaes Brewing Co. — 10921 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — is back with another Fall Pop-Up Shop event. You can shop all things vinyl records with Ampersand Vinyl on site from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. After they leave, Cookie Hustle and Modern Motifs will take over from 2-4 p.m. It’s a great opportunity to shop and drink locally.

Lost Evenings Brewing Co. — 8625 Hauser Court, Lenexa, Kansas — is partnering with FrostedKC for an afternoon of delicious treats. They will be putting on a Cookie & Beer Pairing event. For $20 you’ll be able to purchase a flight featuring four beers from Lost Evenings that pairs with four cookies from FrostedKC. FrostedKC also will be selling lots of treats and cookies a la carte.

Crane Brewing Co. — 6515 Railroad St., Raytown, Missouri — is throwing its annual Crane Fall Fest. You’ll be able to start hanging out as early as 8 a.m. with a hot cup of coffee from Rock Island Coffee, which will be at Crane from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The brewery also will be releasing three different beers — Native To Now, Levitation And Mystic and Windfalls Autumn. Harp BBQ will start serving up their smoked meats at 11 a.m. with Rockin Tacos serving up tacos starting at 2 p.m. Colonial Gardens, Oleo Coffee and Compost Collective will all be on site doing pop-up shops.
