Tap List | Local Breweries Band Together on Abortion Issue

The U.S. Supreme Court’s recent reversal on Roe v. Wade has prompted a response in the local craft brewing industry.

To show their support for women’s right to choose, Casual Animal and Stockyards Brewing Co. have joined with restaurant Voltaire and Lemonade Park (operated by the owners of recordBar) for the Show Up for Reproductive Rights event.

The event will take place Sunday, July 31, at Lemonade Park in the West Bottoms. The all-day event will feature live music, craft beer from 12 different local breweries, food trucks, a silent auction and more. Prizes for the silent auction include things like tickets to a Chiefs football game, concert tickets, a beer and food pairing dinner at Q39, and more.

All of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Missouri Abortion Fund, a reproductive justice organization focused on helping Missourians access abortions as needed.

Tickets for those 21 and up are $25 and include two drink/raffle tickets. Those under 21 can still attend with tickets costing $10.

Beer Releases

Outfield Beer Co. — 10953 Kaw Drive, Edwardsville, Kansas — just released the newest version of Lost In The Lights Ale. The beer, a 5.4% ABV Helles lager, is a hazy golden color. You’ll get a hint of blueberry alongside the honey malt for a very easy drinking summer beer. 

Crane Brewing Co. — 6515 Railroad St., Raytown, Missouri — has two new tiki-themed beers available. The first is a 4.5% ABV Pilot Punch. Made to mimic the classic tiki cocktail Planter’s Punch, you’ll get plenty of tropical flavors of cherry, pineapple and lime. The second is their Jungle Bird IPA. Like the Pilot Punch, this 9.1% ABV double IPA is based on the Jungle Bird cocktail. The beer was made with pineapple, demerara sugar and tiki botanicals. It’s pineapple forward with flavors of cherry and lime.

Torn Label Brewing Co. — 1708 Campbell St., Kansas City, Missouri — released a brand new pilsner called Bauhaus. This German-style Pils is brewed with 100% pilsner malt and hopped exclusively with German Hallertau Mittelfruh hops. Despite its 5.8% ABV, the light hop character and clean, crisp malt flavors make this beer incredibly drinkable.

City Barrel — 1740 Holmes St., Kansas City, Missouri — just released a new beer in collaboration with Colorado’s WeldWerks Brewing. The duo created a hazy IPA named Fun Dip. Coming in at a big 8.2% ABV, this beer uses a new technique called hop dipping. Hops are added in while the temperatures are low between the whirlpool and fermentation. This helps create strong tropical fruit aromas.

Strange Days Brewing — 316 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — debuted a new sour ale. Tutu Tango is a 6.2% ABV strawberry mango ale. While you’ll get the tropical flavors of strawberry and mango, this beer is quite tart and will have your mouth puckering with each sip.

River Bluff Brewing — 201 Main St., Kansas City, Missouri —  tapped the second beer in their Equalizer series. Equalizer #2 is a 4.8% ABV mango habanero sour. The beer has three major elements to its unique flavor. It’s sweet, sour and spicy for the ultimate flavor bomb.

BKS Artisan Ales — 633 E. 63rd St., Kansas City, Missouri — collaborated with Ghost Town Brewing of Oakland, California, on a new West Coast style DIPA. Goblin Cloud blends various hops and hopping techniques used in award-winning beers Goblin Nose (Ghost Town) and Towns & Clouds (BKS). The clean malt backbone allows the hops to shine through and be the true star of the show. This DIPA has an ABV of 8%.

Friday, July 29

Servaes Brewing Co. — 10921 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — is embarking on a three-day extravaganza to celebrate Shark Week. Over the three days, Servaes will be releasing four shark-inspired beers, hosting shark-themed pop-ups, and doing a fundraiser for the Kansas City Zoo Foundation’s new aquarium. Saturday, July 30

Diametric Brewing Co. — 949 N.E. Columbus, Lee’s Summit, Missouri — is celebrating its fourth anniversary. To celebrate, they will be releasing a slew of different beers. They’ve collaborated with several breweries around the area. Each beer will be released individually as well as one giant collaboration beer with everyone. Additionally, Burn Theory Kitchen will be serving up a special menu of their delicious BBQ.

Sunday, July 31

Crane Brewing Co. — 6515 Railroad St., Raytown, Missouri — is welcoming back Teri Cartwright for another session of their Sip ‘N Stretch yoga series. This hour-long class is open to all skill levels from beginners to pros. All you need to do is bring your yoga mat and be prepared to get a bit bendy. Stick around after the class as your ticket includes one free beer.
