Halloween is over and if you’re anything like me, you probably stuffed your face with candy. If you’re really like me, you impatiently waited for trick-or-treaters to go home before pairing your favorite Halloween candy with your favorite seasonal beer. After all, what’s the point of being an adult if I can’t enjoy a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with a peanut butter chocolate stout? I’m an adult now, mom. You can’t tell me what to do. 

Speaking of peanut butter chocolate, 4 Hands Brewing Co. re-released their coveted Absence of Light peanut butter chocolate milk stout (7.1% ABV, No IBU). Head over to the Fountain Room, 301 E. 51st St. in Kansas City, on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 1-4 p.m. for their Tap Takeover and Sampling event. 4 Hands Brewing Co. will be slinging a wide selection of beer, including their Absence of Light stout.

Tap Notes

The Rock Bridge Brewing Co. Option #2 Imperial Stout clocks in at around 9.2% ABV (25 IBU) and is a full-bodied imperial stout brewed with coffee beans. This beer has strong hints of vanilla, chocolate and cherry on the front end, and is jam-packed with coffee bean deliciousness on the back end.

Crane Brewing’s Omar Porter (6% ABV, 31 IBU) is named after the brewery’s beloved pet cat that passed away. It has notes of molasses, coffee beans and raspberries, followed by bitter dark chocolate notes on the finish.

The Martin City Co. Imperial Stout (11% ABV, 46 IBU) is a scrumptious stout aged in bourbon barrels with strong notes of oak and raisin on the front end, followed by hints of fig. At 11% ABV, this one’s definitely a sipper. 

Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Dark Truth Imperial Stout is a flavor-packed tour de force, clocking in at around 9.7% ABV (60 IBU). This stout is symphonic, with strong notes of toasted marshmallow, maple syrup and espresso. 

The Crane Brewing Apricot Weiss (4.5% ABV, 4 IBU) is a golden yellow sour beer with strong citrus notes. In essence, this beer is a citrusy punch to the face, a good citrusy punch to the face.

Thursday, Nov. 7

This Thursday, head over to HopCat in Westport (Kansas City) for beer bingo! To enhance your bingo experience, HopCat will be serving up Boulevard Brewing Co.’s limited edition Extra Pale Ale. It’s a game of chance paired with a limited edition beer from Boulevard — what’s not to like?

Friday, Nov. 8

Head over to Stockyards Brewing Co. this Friday from 5-10 p.m. for their 4th Annual Shaves for Movember Fundraiser and Spirit Cowboy Tapping. Enjoy the re-released Stockyards Brewing Spirit Cowboy, a smoked imperial pilsner clocking in at 8.5% ABV (62 IBU), and watch as 10 industry professionals get their beards chopped off. Proceeds from the event will benefit men’s health.

Saturday, Nov. 9

Swope Health is hosting its 5th Annual Socks and Hops event this Saturday from 7-10 p.m. at the City Market. Buy your tickets and enjoy a wide array of beers from Strange Days Brewing Co., Double Shift Brewing Co., The Big Rip Brewing Co., Torn Label Brewing Co., Stockyards Brewing Co., Cinder Block Brewery, Crane Brewing Co. and Apex Aleworks. Proceeds will benefit Swope Health’s Healthcare for the Homeless Program as well as their Mobile Medical Unit.

Sunday, Nov. 10

Not sure where to watch the game this Sunday? Well, you’re in luck! Boulevard Brewing Co.’s Tours and Recreation Center will be airing the Chiefs game in their Rec Deck! Enjoy a customizable red beer for only $5. Tips and donations will benefit Operation Breakthrough, an organization in Kansas City, Missouri, dedicated to providing a safe environment and educational aid for those in poverty.
