Like a sleeping giant after a two-month slumber, Kansas City craft brewers are slowly emerging from the pandemic shutdown. 

One sign of life is Nimble Brewing 1735 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — a new brewery in the Crossroads. Nimble Brewing has a wide array of offerings, including 85 Days in the Middle of France, a citra dry-hopped farmhouse ale, and for Radiohead fans Kid A, a double dry-hopped, New England style IPA clocking in at 6.1% ABV. 

Beer Releases 

Callsign Brewing — 1447 Gentry St., North Kansas City, Missouri — has released their Hercules Amber Ale (4.8% ABV, 29 IBU), an American Amber ale. 

Strange Days Brewing Co. — 316 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — released Captain’s Finest, a salted caramel Baltic Porter (6.5% ABV). It’s a salted caramel porter. Enough said!

Grains and Taps Brewery and Taproom — 10 SW 3rd St., Lee’s Summit, Missouri — welcomes back their Friendly Suggestion American IPA (7% ABV), dry hopped with hop NZH-107 and Vic Secret. This tropical heavy delight is available in crowlers and growlers!

3Halves Brewing Co. — 110 E. Kansas St., Liberty, Missouri — has six-packs available of Civic Duty, a light beer clocking in at 4.5% ABV. 

While paying a visit to Double Shift Brewing Co.  — 412 E. 18th St., Kansas City, Missouri — this weekend, be sure to try their new Abbot, a Maibock style lager clocking in at 7% ABV (28 IBU). 

City Barrel Brewing Co. — 1740 Holmes St., Kansas City, Missouri — has small batches available of BlackBerry Bellini, a barrel aged sour that boasts of fresh blackberries, and Plum Happiness, a farmhouse ale with notes of Oregon plum and cherry

Rochester Brewing and Roasting Co. — 2129 Washington St., Kansas City, Missouri — has released a brand new beer called Convergence, a New England style IPA (7.0% ABV). If you’re into tropical, citrusy goodness with a silky mouthfeel, this beer is definitely for you. 

Do you like Moscow Mules? Do you like ciders? You do? Head over to Cinder Block Brewery — 110 E. 18th Ave., North Kansas City, Missouri — and order a six-pack of their Moscow Mule Cider. They only have a few left, so act fast! 

Beer Events 

Breweries across the metro are reopening, albeit at limited capacities.

KC Bier Co. — 310 W. 79th St., Kansas City, Missouri — has opened its Bierhalle and Biergarten at a limited capacity. 

Big Rip Brewing Co. — 216 E. 9th Ave., North Kansas City, Missouri — is reopening today from 2-4 p.m., and will resume normal business hours.

Torn Label Brewing Co. — 1708 Campbell St., Kansas City, Missouri — has reopened its taproom, but for outdoor seating only.

Double Shift Brewing Co.412 E. 18th St., Kansas City, Missouri — is reopening its taproom from 12-8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 12-6 p.m. on Sunday. 

Saturday, June 6 

This Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Chicken N Pickle — 1761 Burlington St., North Kansas City, Missouri — will be hosting a Beer-in-hand Pickleball Tournament! The entry fee is $40 for a team of doubles. Also, the first beer is free!

Grab your lawn chair because Limitless Brewing — 9765 Widmer Road, Lenexa, Kansas — is hosting a live show in the back lot this Saturday from 7-9 p.m. While you’re there, be sure to snag some barbecue from ChickenHoovenSwine BBQ!
