Tap List | KC’s First Black-Owned Brewery Is Coming Soon

Vine Street Brewing, spearheaded by founders Kemet Coleman, Woodie Bonds and Elliot Ivory, is slated to become Kansas City’s first Black-owned brewery.

In a post on social media, Coleman noted that Vine Street Brewing promises to merge the founders’ love of “beer, music and Black culture!” Their beer offerings will be available in 2022. Stay tuned for more information about their grand reopening.

This week also offers a chance to try beers from all over the metro and beyond. The Kansas City Beer Fest is this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Arrowhead Stadium, where there will be beer as far as the eye can see.

Beer Releases

Wannabe by Pathlight Brewing — 11200 W. 75th St., Shawnee, Kansas — is a West Coast pale ale clocking in at 6.3% ABV. This beer is hoppy, crisp and exactly what you need this summer.

Strange Days Brewing — 316 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — released Yeah Yeah, a New England IPA brewed with Citra, Amarillo Cryo and Ekuanot Cryo hops. At 6.4% ABV, this is yet another beer to enlist for your summer grilling needs.

Transport Brewery — 11113 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — dropped two beers last week. Morning Island Blendz is a coconut coffee stout brewed with coffee beans from Sway Coffee Roasters, clocking in at 6.5% ABV. Squires Stout (6.5% ABV) is a coffee stout made with Sumatra coffee beans.

Given to Fly is a New England IPA by Servaes Brewing Co. — 10921 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — clocking in at 7% ABV, and brewed with Denali hops. It’s available in four-packs.

Rockcreek Brewing Co. — 5880 Beverly Ave. Mission, Kansas — released three beers last week to celebrate its anniversary. Double Dazed (7.9% ABV, 66 IBU) is a New England DIPA. Lotawana (6.7% ABV, 57 IBU) is a New England IPA. Santé (7.9% ABV, 66 IBU) is a saison farmhouse ale, clocking in at 6.3% ABV (29 IBU).

Friday, June 11

Fat City performs live at Lost Evenings Brewing Co. — 8625 Hauser Court, Lenexa, Kansas — this Friday at 6 p.m. Fat City specializes in everything rock, blues and even funk.

The smooth reggae sounds of New Common Ground will be gracing Limitless Brewing — 9765 Widmer Road, Lenexa, Kansas — Friday starting at 7 p.m. The ChickHoovenSwine BBQ truck will be serving up delicious smoked goodness.

Servaes Brewing Co. — 10921 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — is celebrating Pride Month. This Friday they’ll have a food truck on deck and a new beer release. In addition, $2 from every pour will be donated to I Support the Girls KC, an organization that collects and distributes feminine hygiene products and underwear to women experiencing homelessness and poverty.

Saturday, June 12

Limitless Brewing — 9765 Widmer Road, Lenexa, Kansas — is hosting live music again this week. Jake Reese is performing live this Saturday starting at 7 p.m. The Taste of Brazil food truck will be on deck slinging food.

The Burney Sisters are performing live this Saturday at 7 p.m. at East Forty Brewing — 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Missouri. The Burney Sisters play indie and singer-songwriter folk music. What better way to celebrate East Forty’s third anniversary.

Groove Pilots performs live this Saturday from 7 – 10 p.m. at Apex Aleworks — 4356 S. Noland Road, Independence, Missouri. The band plays rock, funk, blues and Motown. Happy hour starts at 6 p.m., so get there early.
