Tap List | Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Kansas City Style

March 16, 2021  |  Marco Camacho  |  4 min read

There’s so much lore surrounding St. Patrick’s Day.

Did you know, for instance, that Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, never actually drove snakes out of Ireland and into the sea while standing on top of a hill?

Also, did you know that Saint Patrick is credited with explaining the Holy Trinity by using a three-leaf clover, which is why the shamrock is associated with the holiday?

So much for the lore. Here are a few pertinent Tap List facts for St. Patrick’s Day.

According to research by WalletHub, an estimated 57% of Americans planned to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in 2020, those folks expected to consume an average of 4.2 drinks apiece, and about 13 million pints of Guinness were poured during the celebration.

Put simply, St. Patrick’s Day also is a legendary day for beer. And you better believe that Kansas City is joining in on the action. Here are some tasty options:

Casual Animal Brewing Co. — 1725 McGee St., Kansas City, Missouri — is hosting live music this Wednesday 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Wind Shift Brewing — 3421B N.W. Jefferson St., Blue Springs, Missouri — will be releasing new beer and serving up Irish coffee, Irish cocktails and Irish food 5 – 9 p.m.

East Forty Brewing — 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Missouri —will be serving up live music, Irish beer, and Irish ice cream 4 – 6 p.m.

And last but not least, Transport Brewery — 11113 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — is collaborating with McLain’s Bakery and Market to serve up authentic Irish food 1 – 7:30 p.m. Pre-orders are preferred, so buy your food ahead of time!

Have fun. But be careful out there.
