Food-obsessed filmmaker returns to her Napoleon, Missouri origins
January 2, 2016 | | 1 min read
Kelly Cox hangs with chefs, hunters, moonshiners and other characters across the country, filming her original web series Original Fare presented by PBS Food. She’s traveled the world searching for stories that cut through the pretty packaging and buzzwords of the foodie movement to make a slice of American authenticity accessible to all.
Last November Kelly returned to her roots in Napoleon, a tiny farm town of 200 in Missouri just east of Kansas City to explore how agriculture has changed and evolved… while confronting her own dark past. “It’s time we go back. I began this show to understand where our food comes from. This season we’ve seen the inspiration the Philippines played for Chef Carlo, we dove through jungle and ocean with Kaino on his home island of Maui, we ventured to Puerto Rico to find the spicy roots of Chef Cristina. What we discovered is the story of place is a key ingredient to the passion of a person.”
