Weinberger Fine Art Opens Second Crossroads Space for Smaller Shows

One of the Crossroads most respected art galleries, Weinberger Fine Art, has opened a satellite space at 1903 Wyandotte to provide artists an opportunity for more individual exhibitions.
“Artists wanted a room where all you see is their work,” said Courtney Wasson, director of Weinberger Fine Art.
“It’s another opportunity to show more focused exhibitions, the main space will be more collective and salon-style installations.”
The new space, called the Drawing Room, also will allow Weinberger Fine Art to resume participation in the monthly First Fridays event that draws large crowds to the Crossroads Arts District.
The main gallery at 114 Southwestern Blvd. is an invitation-only venue on First Fridays to allow it to focus on promoting artists and selling their work, but the new Drawing Room space will host the popular event.
The new Drawing Room gallery will allow more intimate art exhibits.
The 3,200 square-foot Drawing Room is close to the larger, 5,000 square-foot gallery, just a few steps away through what’s expected to become Sculpture Alley.
As opposed to the more intimate Drawing Room, the larger Weinberger gallery currently has 70 works by 18 artists on display.
“Artists are looking for us to sell their work and have the opportunity for curated exhibitions,” Wasson said.
“This space balances our main space which is open to the public on First Fridays vs members only in the main space.
“The First Friday landscape is in transition in terms of the arts. People say it’s becoming more of a festival, a social experience, than about the arts.”
The new space, which was formerly used for events, was offered by Zach Bickel, one of the proponents of the Sculpture Alley initiative.
The next exhibition at the Drawing Room will open the First Friday in August, Aug. 3. It will feature an exhibition by printmaker Laura Berman and mixed-media artist Cheryl Gail.
