Weekend Possibilities | Worlds of Fun, Future and Easter

Warmer weather will be welcomed by folks looking to get out and about this Easter weekend. Egg hunts, live music, arts, crafts and roller coasters are on the agenda.
Friday, April 7
7 p.m. Grammy Award-winning rapper, producer and songwriter Future is performing at T-Mobile Center, 1407 Grand Blvd., Friday night. The Future & Friends One Big Party tour features opening acts Don Toliver, G Herbo, Mariah the Scientist and Dess Dior. Each stop on the tour features surprise special guests. Tickets are available starting at $55, plus tax and fees.
7:30 p.m. Just across downtown, Floyd Nation will take the stage at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, 1601 Broadway Blvd. The tribute band with a deep respect and understanding of Pink Floyd’s music and aesthetic puts it all on display, complete with mesmerizing lights and lasers. Expect all the Pink Floyd hits and some. Tickets are available starting at $57.50, plus tax and fees.
Saturday, April 8
10 a.m. There is a White House-style Easter Egg Roll Saturday morning in Lawrence. Visit the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics, 2350 Petefish Drive, for a full morning of fun for the entire family complete with the Easter egg roll race, egg hunts, games, crafts, live bunnies, photo opportunities and more. All kids will receive a special gift and candy upon departure. The event is free.
10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. A Lawrence day trip might be in the cards with the KU FNSA Powwow & Indigenous Cultures Festival happening just down the road at the Lied Center of Kansas, 1600 Stewart Drive. Presented by the First Nations Student Association, the festivities will include traditional dance, plus educational workshops and children’s activities focused on Indigenous culture, traditional food, art, handmade goods for sale and more. Be sure to check out the full schedule of Powwow events online in advance. The festival is free to attend.
10:30 a.m. Mrs. Wilson’s Knitting Circle returns to The National World War I Museum and Memorial, 2 Memorial Drive, this weekend. In conjunction with the Kansas City Museum, knitters and non-crafters are invited to join the circle either in person or online as curator Lisa Shockley leads the session committed to conversation and creation. Be sure to bring your own needles and yarn. The event is free with an RSVP.
2 – 6 p.m. Golf’s biggest weekend of the year is here, and you can catch Saturday afternoon’s action at Chicago’s, 534 Central Ave., Masters Watch Party. The Kansas City, Kansas, bar will have the tournament on television, plus Masters-themed cocktails like the John Daly and Azalea on the menu. The watch party is free to attend.
6 p.m. More than $500 worth of prizes are on the line Saturday at Crane Brewing Co.’s Grown-Up Egg Hunt, 6515 Railroad St. The Raytown brewery will have eggs hidden around the taproom and along the Rock Island Trail, just across the parking lot. Gift cards, free pours, six-packs, candy and more goodies are up for grabs. Live music from Caden Crawford starts at 7 p.m. The hunt is free.
Sunday, April 9
11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The art, music and positive vibes of Art Garden KC are back for the season at its new location in Berkley Riverfront Park, 1298 Riverfront Drive. The community-driven weekly event will have more than 80 local makers selling home décor, candles, art, clothing and more, plus yoga by the river, an open mic, live art, face painting, food trucks, gardening DIY activities and more. New to Art Garden KC this year, be sure to check out the Healing and Game Gardens. Art Garden KC is free to check out.
11 a.m. – 8 p.m. It’s opening weekend at Worlds of Fun, 4545 Worlds of Fun Ave. Make your way to the theme park this weekend to be one of the first to celebrate the 50th season of Worlds of Fun in Kansas City. The park is only open on the weekends through the end of May. Thrill seekers can get their first peek at the brand-new Zambezi Zinger roller coaster, set to open this summer. Daily admission tickets are $39.99, plus tax and fees.
