The pre-holiday season weekend is marked by plenty of free livestreams and playoff soccer.

Friday, Nov. 20
6 – 9 p.m. Get a jumpstart on the holiday season with KC Wineworks, 1829 McGee St., and its upcoming Pop Up Party with vegan food truck Dead Beet Eats. This time there will be vegan “friendsgiving” plates to go with Wineworks’ classic pours, hard cider or sangria. This event is for those 21 and older only.
7 p.m. Entirely written, developed and executed by students, the Avila Theatre Department is debuting Twenty20s this weekend. The original play streamed over Zoom is “a genuine, authentic reflection of life from the perspective of young Americans as they attempt to navigate adulthood in 2020.” Reserve free tickets by contacting the Avila Theatre box office at 816-501-3699 or by email at box.office@avila.edu.
Saturday, Nov. 21
10 a.m. The University of Kansas Natural History Museum has plans to host a Pop Up Science livestream on the topic of weather. A museum staff member will walk kiddos and the curious through making homemade weather instruments, plus lessons on how weather works. The stream is free.
7 p.m. Seriously, what are the odds? For the first time, Kansas City artists Kelly Hunt and Kelley Hunt will share a stage Saturday night at The Folly Theater, 300 W. 12th St. The socially distanced and limited capacity show requires all attendees to wear a face covering or mask. Tickets are $25.
8:30 p.m. Revolution Records is celebrating three years of Open Poetry with a monthly livestream event. Saturday’s stream will include a special book release event for local author Matt Clifford’s latest, “Postscript.” Copies of the book will be up for sale online and in-store. Featured poetry readers are to be determined. Tune in via Facebook Live.
Sunday, Nov. 22
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Top-seeded Sporting Kansas City will take on San Jose in the opening round of the MLS playoffs Sunday afternoon and Char Bar, 4050 Pennsylvania Ave., is hosting a watch party. The Westport restaurant is teaming up with Modern Man Supply Co. to raise money for Hurricane Eta relief. Buy an MMSC t-shirt and you’ll be entered to win a signed Roger Espinoza SKC jersey. Masks are required.
4 – 6 p.m. American Jazz Museum is bringing A Jazzy Holiday Story to you this year. Tune in via Facebook Live for the music and variety show featuring performances by Angel Gibson, Delynia Jannell, Eric Lyn and more from the historic Gem Theater at 18th & Vine. The show is free, however donations to the museum are encouraged.
7:20 p.m. Once Sporting wins, head to Chicken N’ Pickle, 1761 Burlington St. in North Kansas City, to watch the Chiefs take on the Raiders on Sunday Night Football. With plenty of televisions and outdoor seating, root on the home team against their historic rivals while enjoying Chicken N’ Pickle’s Chiefs Burger, $3 domestic drafts, 20 wings for $20 and $9 pulled pork nachos.
