Weekend Possibilities | Holiday Pop-ups Open Post Christmas and Other Merry Leftovers

Whether you are tired of being cooped up with your partner or just sick of stepping on brand-new Legos, getting out of the house after the holiday might be a must.

Saturday, Dec. 26

If keeping that holiday spirit rolling is the plan, book a table at Miracle Kansas City. The holiday bar concept pops up once a year at three locations across the metro and offers holiday-inspired cocktails to enjoy surrounded by decor galore. Reservations are required as space is limited.

4 – 10 p.m.There’s a brand-new holiday pop-up on the second floor of Tom’s Town Distilling Co., 1701 Main St. Stop by Tinsel Town for a dose of holiday cheer via live music, holiday-themed cocktails and socially distant lounge areas. The folks at Tom’s Town have installed an air purification system for additional safety measures during the pandemic.

6 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. Leave the kids at home and head to The Comedy Club, 1130 W. 103rd St., for the day after Christmas’ The Roast of Santa. Laugh along while the big man hears it from a panel of roasters in full costume. Expect socially-distanced seating, plus no-contact ordering. Tables are available for groups of two, three, four and 10. Prices vary.

7:30 p.m. How well do you know the National Lampoon’s holiday classic? Join fellow movie buffs Saturday evening at the Weston Wine Company, 540 Main St., for Christmas Vacation Trivia. Griswold know-it-alls can assemble a team of two-to-six members. Tickets are $7 per guest and include free wine samples.

Sunday, Dec. 27

11 a.m. KC Daiquiri Shop, 1116 Grand Blvd., is partnering with The Justice & Dignity Center Coalition to throw a Chiefs watch party as the squad looks to lock up the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture against the Falcons. Get there before kickoff to be sure to get a table. Kansas City’s new cajun joint will get the good times rolling with dollar wings, BOGO 1/2 off 16-ounce drinks, a 32-ounce daiquiri at the half, plus shots for every Chiefs touchdown.

4 – 10 p.m. Get out to Festival of Lights: Enchantment at Powell Gardens, 1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50, before it’s gone. Ooo and ahh at Kansas City’s botanical gardens transformed into a winter wonderland with a variety of light displays spanning 25 acres. Be sure to swing by the Enchanted Tiki Bar and Santa’s Workshop. Adult tickets are $12. Kids ages 5-12 get in for $5.

5 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. Travel back in time for the final evening of Knights of Lights: A Renaissance Christmas Extravaganza by the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, 633 N. 130 St. Expect 12 holiday scenes visible from the safety of your own vehicle, plus a visit from Santa Claus and Sparky the Christmas Dragon. Tickets are $25 for vehicles under eight passengers.
