Weekend Possibilities | Chiefs Super Bowl Watch Parties, Dolly, Nate Bargatze 

While nearly every television in the area will be tuned in to Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday evening, we’ve picked out a few sweet Chiefs watch party options. In the meantime, here are some options to fill the time until kick-off. 

Leading up to Sunday, there’s comedy, a Dolly Parton pop-up and LEGOS at Union Station. 

Friday, Feb. 9 

4 – 7:30 p.m. Start Super Bowl weekend with a celebration of the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift love story at Friday’s Swiftie Super Bash Pop-Up. Merriam Community Center, 6040 Slater St., has plans for friendship bracelet making, football finger foods and an “Eras Tour Movie” dance party. All ages are welcome. Registration is $5. 

6 – 11 p.m. Unwind after work on Friday at the Dolly Pop-Up from Vignettes, 2376 Armour Road, in North Kansas City. The pop-up bar has turned its attention to the “Queen of Country” Dolly Parton this month, serving specialty cocktails in a country-glam setting. There’s live music every weekend, plus game shows, trivia and bingo throughout the week. Reservations are required. It’s $5 per person and you must be 21 or older to attend. 

7 p.m. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical makes its Kansas City debut this weekend at B&B Theatres Shawnee 18, 16301 Midland Drive. The Broadway musical performed by Music Theatre Kansas City Pro chronicles the iconic songwriter’s personal life and career, featuring more than two dozen of King’s hits. Tickets are $15 for students and $25 for adults. 

Saturday, Feb. 10 

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Treat the LEGO lover in your life to an afternoon at Union Station, 30 W. Pershing Road, and the interactive Bricktionary: The Ultimate LEGO A-Z exhibit. More than 150 custom-built models will be on display, including a massive leaping orca that was built brick-by-brick by the pros. The space allows amateur builders to ask questions, take pictures with projects and craft creations of their own. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for children and free for kids under 3 years old.  

11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Celebrate a decade of good times and great beer at KC Bier Co.’s, 310 W. 79^th St., 10^th Anniversary Party & Bier Festival. The brewery will roll out 20 exclusive brews for the occasion, plus wine for the non-beer drinkers. Pretzels and bratwurst will be on the menu, as usual. The outdoor event is rain or shine, so dress accordingly. Tickets are $28 and include an anniversary souvenir tasting glass, plus five tokens good for 4-ounce pours. You must be 21 or older to attend. 

3 & 7 p.m. Grammy-nominated comedian, podcaster, director, producer and recent Saturday Night Live! host Nate Bargatze makes his T-Mobile Center, 1407 Grand Blvd., debut Saturday night. Fans will have two chances to check out The Be Funny Tour in Kansas City, where Bargatze promises all new material. Tickets are available for both shows starting at $39.75, plus tax and fees. 

10 p.m. If you’re looking for live, local music, Talking Heads tribute band Found a Job is playing a late-night set Saturday at The Ship, 1221 Union Ave. Seating is entirely general admission. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15, plus tax and fees. 

Sunday, Feb. 11 

Super Bowl Sunday in Kansas City is more than just another big game. The Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII from Las Vegas, starting at 5:30 p.m. and there is plenty of fun to get into before and during the game. Here are just a few options. 

Red Kingdom Block Party, 11 a.m. – The biggest watch party in town, KC Live! in the Power & Light District will have food trucks, drinks, DJs, the game on the big screens, games, giveaways and more. Cost: $30. 

Brew Lab Super Bowl Watch Party, 11 a.m. – The folks at Brew Lab in Overland Park are making a day of it. An all-day happy hour means $6 nachos and half dozen wings, $2 tacos and $2 off house beers and cocktails. Reservations available. Cost: None. 

Pathlight’s Super Bowl Watch Party, Noon – Pathlight Brewing in Shawnee is kicking things off with a Swift/Kelce pre-party at 2 p.m. Junkyard Dog will serve gourmet dogs and shareable snacks starting at 4 p.m. Cost: None. 

Bar K Tail-Gate Party, Noon to 3 p.m. – Both two- and four-legged friends can catch some pre-game vibes at Bar K. Show up in a Chiefs jersey to get a free Chiefs dog bandana. The game will be on at 5:30 p.m. Cost: $15 for the first dog, $5 for each additional (nonmembers). 

Double Tap KC Super Bowl Watch Party, 3 p.m. – The River Market virtual reality arcade bar is offering an indoor/outdoor pre-game tailgate experience with tunes from DJ Mic, plus beer and seltzer deals. During the game, enjoy food and drink specials, including $10 pitchers and $1.25 smoked wings. Arrive early. Cost: None. 

Super Bowl Watch Party at the Block, 4 p.m. – Cinder Block Brewery is throwing a bash in North Kansas City, offering $5 Il Padrone pints, $4 year-round brews, Chiefs cocktails and F325 BBQ. The brewery is setting up an additional projector for the game. Cost: None. 

Chiefs & Chili: Super Sunday, 5 p.m. – The Black Box Theater in the West Bottoms will host a chili cook-off during the big game. Unlimited chili with the purchase of any drink. Free shots for Chiefs touchdowns. Cost: None. 

Chiefs Super Bowl, Again!, 5 p.m. – The 403 Club on Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, Kansas, is doing it again. The watch party will have a potluck table and plenty of pinball to play. Cost: None.
