“Artists in Residence” today visits Devon Carney, artistic director of Kansas City Ballet, which suspended its season due to the stay-at-home order forced by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Carney notes the unique challenges of operating a ballet company at a distance.

“We’re a very physical art form,” Carney says. “We’re very much dependent on that physical contact with each other. There’s definitely a withdrawal going on.”

Even so, Carney is staying extremely busy conducting virtual classes, reviewing video audition tapes and planning for the next ballet season. For more, enjoy the attached video conversation, and visit Kansas City Ballet.
