Kansas Citians have an extra pep in their step after the Kansas City Chiefs punched their tickets to their Super Bowl, where they will be facing Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“But Marco, what does this mean for me?” you ask. “What does this mean for beer?”

Well, if last year is any indication, taprooms in the metro will be hosting watch parties — though there will be safety precautions in place, because of the pandemic. And breweries will release new, tasty beers in the days leading up to the game. This means you have plenty of time to try the best beer that Kansas City has to offer before the big day.

Whether you’re rooting for the Chiefs or not, the days leading up to the Super Bowl are full of Kansas City beer magic, and Flatland is here to spread the word.

Beer Releases

Strange Days Brewing — 316 Oak St., Kansas City, Missouri — has released Feed The Jukebox (7.2% ABV, 70 IBU), a San Diego super IPA made with Citra and Strata hops. Taste the California sun! 

Rochester Brewing and Roasting Co. — 2129 Washington St., Kansas City, Missouri — has reintroduced a fan favorite. Take a trip down memory lane with their Orange Creamsicle IPA, a New England IPA brewed with vanilla beans, pureed oranges and lactose clocking in at 7% ABV.

City Barrel Brewing Co. — 1740 Holmes St., Kansas City, Missouri — just dropped Ope, Let Me Sneak By Ya (6.1% ABV), a very nice, very Midwestern IPA brewed with Citra, Incognito, Chinook, Midwest Cascade and Centennial hops!

Alma Mader Brewing — 2635 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri — released two beers recently, both of which are still available for online purchase. Settling In: Land of Mañana (8.5% ABV) is a double milk stout made with ancho and guajillo, vanilla and cinnamon. This beer is geared to take you deep into the heart of the Southwest. Subspecies: Talus (6.8% ABV) is an IPA made with Neomexicanus hops, and boasts of coconut, limoncello, and cherry. 

Torn Label Brewing Co. — 1708 Campbell St., Kansas City, Missouri — has re-released Leap of Faith (7.6% ABV), which was first brewed before the founders of Torn Label, in a giant leap of faith, returned home to open the brewery. Dry-hopped with only Citra hops, this beer is bursting at the seams with fruit flavor. Available online for curbside pickup!

Martin City Brewing — 500 E. 135th St.m Kansas City, Missouri — dropped a taproom exclusive. Forgotten Farmhouse Ale (5.9% ABV, 30 IBU) is a farmhouse ale made with Belgian saison yeast that boasts of fruit on the front end with wheat on the backend.

Fields and Ivy Brewery — 706 E. 23rd St., Lawrence, Kansas — has released a new beer. Fence Bender (11% ABV, 75 IBU) is a triple IPA and a spin on a West Coast IPA, with lush notes of citrus and pine.

Rockcreek Brewing Co. — 5880 Beverly Ave. Mission, Kansas — has released a beer in honor of the automotive shop that occupied their space before they turned into a magical beer space. Run Rite (5.5% ABV, 28 IBU) is a pre-Prohibition style lager with floral notes and malt flavor.

It’s Pint Night this Wednesday at Callsign Brewing — 1447 Gentry St., North Kansas City, Missouri. From 4 – 9 p.m. pints are only $4! For veterans, pints are only $3!
