Servaes Brewing Co. has plenty to celebrate this week.

The brewery at 10921 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas, is celebrating its two-year anniversary this week. Servaes will be releasing more than 20 beers from Thursday through Sunday to celebrate the occasion, including some barrel-aged goodness.

They’ve announced a line of Dreams in Color Paint Beers, which includes four sour beers: Yellow Paint, a pineapple, apricot and vanilla sour; Blue Paint, a blueberry, blackberry and vanilla sour; Green Paint, a kiwi, lime and vanilla sour; and Pink Paint, a strawberry, raspberry, banana and vanilla sour. In addition to new beer releases, there will be food trucks, soda releases, and new celebratory merchandise for sale during their anniversary week.

Spearheaded by head brewer, owner and founder Courtney Servaes, the brewery has established itself as a local powerhouse. The first brewery in Kansas owned and operated by a female head brewer, Servaes is known for their creative, innovative beers, which range from barleywines, aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels, to coffee berry sours made with blueberry and raspberry puree, to witbiers brewed with orange zest, chamomile, and coriander.

Beer Releases

Alma Mader Brewing — 2635 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri — has released a crowd favorite. Habit Loop (6.8% ABV) is an NEIPA made with a good amount of Citra hops. This IPA, which boasts of tropical fruit flavors, was also brewed with Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin, and Strata hops. Order some online now!

Apex Aleworks — 4356 S. Noland Road, Independence, Missouri — has added another beer to its seltzer ranks. Prickly Pear (6.8% ABV) is a complex hard seltzer with prickly pear, strawberry and raspberry flavors.

3Halves Brewing Co. — 110 E. Kansas St., Liberty, Missouri —dropped three beers. Liberty Lager (4.5% ABV) is back! This beer, which has become quite the favorite, is a traditional American lager brewed with Liberty hops. The Way is a DDH hazy IPA brewed with Galaxy and Mosaic hops, clocking in at a crushable 6.3% ABV. They also dropped Sunkissed Iced Tea Ale (5% ABV), the perfect beer for sipping on your front porch. 

Pathlight Brewing — 11200 W. 75th St., Shawnee, Kansas — dropped Trailridge (7.2% ABV), a DDH American IPA brewed with Chinook, Simcoe, and Columbus hops, with flavors of pine and citrus.

Wednesday, April 21

Red Crow Brewing Co. — 1062 W. Santa Fe St., Olathe, Kansas — isn’t just throwing any old party this Wednesday. Nope, that’s not how they roll. They’re hosting a paint party that starts at 7 p.m. Bring your paint brushes, and art supplies.

Friday, April 23

If you’ve ever wanted to make pottery with one hand, while holding a cold brew with the other, then you may get your chance this Friday at The Big Rip Brewing Co., 216 E. 9th Ave., North Kansas City, Missouri. A $40 ticket gets you pottery-making materials, a DIY pottery class and a cold brew. The fun starts at 6 p.m. Register ASAP!

Wind Shift Brewing — 3421B N.W. Jefferson St., Blue Springs, Missouri — is hosting live music this Friday from 7 – 10 p.m. Ryan Triggs will be performing on Wind Shift’s patio, so bring your lawn chair!

East Forty Brewing — 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Missouri — will be hosting award-winning local singer Nicole Springer on the patio from 6 – 9 p.m. Attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis.

New Common Ground, a reggae group, will be performing at Pathlight Brewing — 11200 W. 75th St., Shawnee, Kansas — this Friday at 7 p.m. There will also be a food truck on deck. There will be plenty of great music, cold beer and delicious food. What’s not to love? 

Saturday, April 24

Transport Brewery — 11113 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas — is having a Utepils celebration, which in Norweigan roughly translates into “outdoor lager.” The event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. involves various local vendors and breweries, events, prizes and live music. There’s even going to be a beard and mustache competition.

After hanging out at Transport Brewery, make your way to Apex Aleworks — 4356 S. Noland Road, Independence, Missouri — at 7:30 p.m. for live music featuring the music of Stranded in the City. If you like funk, blues and soul, then you do not want to miss out. Get there early for happy hour at 6:30 p.m.

I don’t care who you are, where you’re from or what you did, as long as you head over to Outfield Beer Co. — 10953 Kaw Drive, Edwardsville Kansas — this Saturday at 7 p.m. for bingo, boy bands and beers. The brewery is hosting bingo and it’s all about boy bands, so brace yourself for the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and maybe even New Kids on the Block.

East Forty Brewing — 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Missouri — will be hosting the live music featuring the sounds of Blake Gardner and the Farmers from 6 – 9 p.m. The show will be outside, and there is plenty of outdoor seating.
