Tap List | Flatland’s Newest Team Member Puts the “Produce” In Producer

As of June 24, I will be your new food content producer. I’m Emily Woodring and I have produced music and education content for Kansas City PBS for the past five years.

Now let’s talk about beer. For this week’s Tap List, here are some of my favorite beers – right now. But, Tea Weiss and Tank 7 are always somewhere on the top of my list year round.

Tea Weiss – Crane Brewing Company

Brewed with Kansas City’s Hugo Berry Rooibos Tea, it goes down easy with a slight pucker of the mouth. This one is perfect for the summer, and available all year long.

Power Moves – Double Shift Brewing Company

One of the many great Double Shift releases recently, Power Moves is hoppy-juicy goodness with some tangerine and guava notes.

Tank 7 – Boulevard Brewing Company

An incredible saison all year round? Yes, please. Thanks for always being there for me, Tank 7.   

Magic Magic – Torn Label Brewing Company

This beer is magic. All around magic.

Berliner Weisse with House-made Strawberry Syrup – Brewery Emperial

There’s nothing like sitting outside Brewery Emperial in the summer at sunset drinking this light beer, packed with fruity sweetness. Enjoy it without the syrup for more pucker and less sweetness.

Tuesday, June 18:

East Forty Brewing hosts an open mic every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Get your sang on … or your spoken word, or your jokes. Here’s a chance to work on that material that you’ve been hiding from the world.

Wednesday, June 19:

Birds, bones and beetles. Oh my! Go to Free State Brewing Company on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. for some free science for their “Science on Tap: Birds, Bones, Beetles & Bunker” event. Author Chuck Warner will be at the brewery to talk about his new book, “Birds, Bones, and Beetles: The Improbable Career and Remarkable Legacy of University of Kansas Naturalist Charles D. Bunker.”

Thursday, June 20:

Head to Strange Days Brewing Company for their Women’s World Cup Watch Party. Watch the United States Women’s team play Sweden at 2 p.m. to advance to the round of 16! Strange Days will be hosting watch parties during the entirety of the World Cup.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with Schlafly’s new Lunar Lager and a paint-along at Green Room Burgers & Beer. For $15 you get a beer, paint supplies, and a painting instructor because let’s face it, most of us haven’t touched a paintbrush since the fifth grade.

Friday, June 21:

Drink a beer and do some good at Crane Brewing Company for the third annual Longest Day at the Taproom. A percent of all sales this day will be donated to the local Alzheimer’s Association.

Saturday, June 22:

Ever wanted to try Barre3 for free? This is your opportunity. KC Bier Company is hosting Barre3 + Beers slated to start at 11 a.m. Barre3 combines strength conditioning, cardio and mindfulness. The taproom will have discounted drinks to cool you off after the workout.

Sunday, June 23:

You don’t need to be a pro-cyclist to enjoy KC FUN RIDE at Boulevard Brewing Company. Get rollin’ – beginning at 2 p.m. – on this cruise pace seven- to 10-mile ride around Kansas City. BYO-Bike or rent one from the nearby Ride KC bicycle station! Enjoy a free beer when you return to the brewery.

Monday, June 24:

Enjoy the third day of summer at the beautiful Crossroads Hotel with a summer-focused four-course meal paired with Torn Label beer. Yum. Tickets are $45 and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.
