As the Kansas City area slowly relaxes social-distancing restrictions, life — as beer lovers know it — will gradually return to normal.

Soon(ish), the weekends will ring with laughter and the sound of clinking beer glasses. IPA will soon drip from our chins as we embrace a newfound appreciation for the local beer community.

Until things get back to normal, though, let’s continue to support our beer community — one online order, one curbside pickup at a time. 

Sandhills Brewing Co. is jumping into the curbside trend in a big way, partnering with a local meat company to offer both beer and beast for pickup.

The brewery at 5612 Johnson Drive in Mission, Kansas, has teamed up with Scavuzzo’s, a family owned meat company in Kansas City, Kansas. Choices range from beef brisket, chicken wings, chicken breast, and filet mignon to and even steelhead trout! Place your order here by 3 p.m. on Thursday, and pick it up at the Mission taproom.

Beer Releases

Fields and Ivy Brewery — 706 E. 23rd St., Lawrence, Kansas — has released de Gallo Lager, which clocks in at 4.5% ABV and 15 IBU. This lager is brewed with lime juice, sea-salt and heirloom corn!

Apex Aleworks — 4356 S. Noland Road, Independence, Missouri — just released their latest collaboration with Celebration Brewing called the celebratioN pilZ (4.9% ABV), a pilsner that boasts of tropical flavors and hops.

Cinder Block Brewery — 110 E. 18th Ave., North Kansas City, Missouri — will be offering Cinder Block French Cider in four-packs for pickup and delivery! Clocking in at 5.8% ABV, this delicious cider will make the perfect addition to your cookout!

Double Shift Brewing Co. — 412 E, 18th St, Kansas City, Missouri — is selling Crossroads Coyote (6% ABV), a dry-hopped sour ale with cranberry and orange, in 500 ml bottles.

Torn Label Brewing Co. — 1708 Campbell St., Kansas City, Missouri  — still has four-packs of their Look Up at Night (6.3% ABV), an unfiltered IPA featuring notes of grapefruit, lemongrass and orange cream soda. 

BKS Artisan Ales — 633 E. 63rd St., Kansas City, Missouri — released their Vacation Island Passion Fruit Margarita  (4% ABV). This recently brewed wonder is based on the legendary cocktail, and boasts of passionfruit, lemon and sea salt.

Tuesday, May 5

Quarantine Brewery & Taphouse is hosting a virtual trivia night this Tuesday, May 5, from 7:30-9 p.m. The PRIV Quiz event will be seven rounds with 10 questions per round. 

Wednesday, May 6

Martin City Brewing Co. — 500 E. 135th St., Kansas City, Missouri — is offering a Gourmet Mother’s Day meal that can feed up to six people for as little as $75! Choose between smoked prime rib ($125) and Rosemary Roasted Chicken ($75) with up to six servings of garlic whipped potatoes, roasted green beans, and Hawaiian rolls. Place your order by 11:59 p.m. on May 6.

Thursday, May 7

Join Pete Dulin (KC Ale Trail), David Schumacher (BTKC), James  Stutsman (City Barrel) and Chris Meyers (Crane Brewing) this Thursday, May 7, at 8:30 p.m. as they virtually discuss how COVID-19 has affected their breweries. 

Saturday, May 9

Join the Kansas City beer community this Saturday, May 9, at 5 p.m. for a Virtual Plating and Pairing Event. All you have to do is order food from a local restaurant that offers curbside pickup or delivery, and choose a local beer to pair with your meal. Take a picture of your meal pairing, and post it here!
