Boys Grow Fall Farm Festival & Other Weekend Possibilities

The Boys Grow Fall Farm Festival is this Sunday with special guest chef Lidia Bastianich. It’s noon to 4 p.m. with a beer garden, petting zoo, and bounce house on the 10-acre farm that helps urban youth learn about agriculture and entrepreneurship. Novel, Shatto Milk, Local Pig and KC Canning Co. will be among the restaurants and food purveyors on hand as part of the festival.

The Waffle Bar (4745 Central St.) — a pop-up waffle novelty shop — has opened on the Plaza. You can get an icing drizzled waffle on a stick or a ice cream with toppings (think fruit pebbles or chocolate syrup) inside of a warm waffle. That waffle ice cream creation is served in a paper cone — think of it like the dessert version of walking tacos.
Feel like the world is going to end? You don’t have to face it alone. The End of the World Pub Crawl is in Martini Corner from1 to 5 p.m. this Saturday. Dodge zombies on your way through the pub crawl.
The Union Cemetery Historical Society hosts its last Food Truck Friday of the year from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Union Hill Cemetery (227 E. 28th Terrace). The Moti Egg Waffle truck, KC Pinoy and Werner’s on Wheels will be among the trucks ready to serve you lunch.
Keep your food truck love affair going from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Funday Sunday & Apple Fest in the Merriam Marketplace (5740 Merriam Drive, Merriam, Kansas). There are apple-themed crafts and snacks, as well as food trucks: CoffeeCake KC and Taste of Brazil alongside The Waffler.
The third annual Festival of the Lost Township, hosted by Crane Brewing Company, is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in Raytown. It’s a celebration of craft beer, tea, coffee, kombucha and food.

The 25th annual Waldo Fall Festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. This family-friendly festival features music, face painting and food trucks at the corner of 75th and Wornall. If you’re there later in the afternoon, the Falldo Waldo Crawldo kicks off at 4 p.m. The pub crawl runs through 11:30 p.m.
A Taste of Leawood is 7 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Town Center Plaza (5000 W. 119th St., Leawood, Kansas). The event, put on by the Leawood Chamber of Commerce, is a chance to eat your way across Johnson County.
Cultivate Kansas City is hosting its annual fundraiser, the Dig In Benefit Dinner, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at The City Market (20 E. Fifth St.). I’ll be the emcee at the celebration of local food and farmers, which features cuisine from Stock Hill’s Joe West and Betty Rae’s Ice Cream.
