Ever wonder how coffee shops pick their beans? Attend a public cupping — where you try several different coffees for taste and aroma — from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Second Best Coffee (328 W. 85th St.) to learn about how roasting beans imparts flavor and get a look at what’s coming to the shop’s coffee lineup.

Oddly Correct (3940 Main St.) has spent the past week remaking its Midtown shop. The new look and menu debuts Saturday with a grand re-opening party from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’ll be able to get cream in your coffee — that’s a big deal because founder Gregory Kolsto has long offered customers that he would buy their coffee if they didn’t like it black — or a bourbon vanilla latte. On the food side, you’ll be able to get vegan cinnamon rolls, biscuits and egg sandwiches.

Pirate’s Bone (645 E. 59th St.) announced it will close Sunday, March 24. The coffee shop serves lattes, nitro cold brew, and a vegan-friendly menu (activated charcoal waffles, bagel sandwiches and soup).

We don’t all have that Starbucks money; but you can get coffee inside a mansion. Mansion Coffee (2821 Independence Ave.) is a new coffee place in the Northeast. Get espresso drinks, chai or tea and cookies from a jar on the counter. Mansion Coffee is open from 7 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

You can’t tell a town not to dance, John Lithgow. The Crossroads Hotel (2101 Central St.) is having a Glow Silent Disco, organized by the Positive People Posse, from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday. They hand you a headset when you walk in, and you’re welcome to come adorned in neon. General admission tickets ($45) come with two drink tickets. Add on a glow package (light-up cup and neon accessories) for $15 more.

It’s Pancake Week at Ginger’s Sue’s (20 NE Sycamore St., Lee’s Summit, Missouri). Each day has its own flavor. It’s cinnamon roll pancakes for Thursday, Morning Glory for Friday, Sweet Corn with salted honey butter for Saturday and Carrot Cake pancakes with cream cheese icing on Sunday. Ginger Sue’s also has locations in Olathe; Kansas City, Kansas; and Liberty, Missouri.

Before there was brunch, there was the pancake breakfast. Charisse (1006 Walnut St.) holds its third annual Pancake Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The breakfast is raising funds for the Kansas City Storm, a local women’s tackle football team.

Get ready for floats and a stagecoach on 135th Street. The Martin City St. Patrick’s Day Parade is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. While you’re there, stop by Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse for a twice baked potato roughly the size of your face and a French dip sandwich.
