Thanksgiving on The Grill & Other Weekend Possibilities

Give yourself over to Thanksgiving early with Pie Night at Glacé Artisan Ice Cream (4960 Main Street). Dolce is bringing the pie that Glacé will top with paired ice cream, whipped cream, and a caramel drizzle sauce. Pie is served beginning at 5 p.m.
The 2016 Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Dinner is Sunday at 4 p.m. at William Jewell College. The dinner, designed to bring together people of different faiths, is put on by the Heartland chapter of the Alliance of Divine Love. Tickets are $10 for children (5 to 12 years old) and $15 for adults.
The turkey is too important to mess around with on Thanksgiving. Get thee to an expert. A Thyme for Everything (229B SE Main Street, Lee’s Summit, Missouri) is hosting a Thanksgiving on the Grill class on Saturday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Pitmaster Jason Day is leading the class [see him in Burnt Legend, our digital series about burnt ends] on how to make a Thanksgiving meal on the grill, beginning with a brined bird and ending with wood-fired apple pie. The class is $65 per person.
Eddie V’s Prime Seafood (700 West 47th Street, Suite 115) has opened on the Plaza. An easy way to dive in is with happy hour, 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Snag a pair of blackened mahi mahi tacos for $6, East Coast oysters for $2 a shot, or The Real McCoy, an $8 cocktail made with rum, grapefruit and lime juice.
Nerd out on coffee with a screening of A Film About Coffee at Second Best Coffee (328 W 85th Street) tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. It’s bring your own beer, but they’ll have coffee for sale. Keep your buzz going on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. at Coffee & Style — a pop-up with Thou Mayest Coffee and local makers (Ocean & Sea, Farmhouse Studios among them) at HMK (4710 Broadway Street) on the Plaza.
It’s all about the big beers at the Strong Ale Festival in front of McCoy’s Public House (4057 Pennsylvania Avenue) in Westport on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Beers over 8 percent ABV and with vanilla, caramel, and toffee notes thanks to barrel-aging will come center stage at this singular beer event. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the gate.
Powell Gardens (1609 NW US Highway 50, Kingsville, Missouri) is hosting a FreshMade Fair on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They’ll have lip balms from Messner Family Farm, tea from the Hugo Tea Company, hot sauce from BoysGrow, craft-your-own gin kits from Snake Oil KC, and plenty of art, soap, and handmade jewelry.
