Spokes Café|Cyclery is opening its second downtown outlet at 929 Walnut today, and in addition to fixing bikes and serving food and coffee drinks, the new location will have a full bar and sidewalk seating along Walnut Street.

Founder Dan Walsh said the new location, which takes the place of a former Scooter’s coffee, will have the same food offerings as its original location in Quality Hill including breakfast burritos, gourmet melt sandwiches, salads and wraps.

Walsh, who lives nearby in the Library District, anticipates many of the patrons coming to the new location will be residents and workers in the area. The new Spokes is located next door to the 909 Walnut apartments.

“Our business is growing more and more as people are finding us,” he said. “About 95 percent of our patrons are walking here.”

The new Spokes location will offer sidewalk seating along Walnut Street.

The indoor cafe and bar seats about 60 people, and outdoor seating along Walnut will accommodate about 20. Walsh said people will be able to bring their coffee or alcoholic beverages outside with them.

“We want to capture the happy hour crowd of workers,” he said.

Hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Business will continue at the original Spokes which opened in May 2017 at 1200 Washington.
