Season of Giving 2021: The Literacy Lab-KC

December 30, 2021  |  Leah Taylor  |  1 min read

Here at Flatland, we want to offer a gentle reminder that the holidays are a season of giving, not just receiving. So our gift to you is a daily list of sometimes-obscure local charitable organizations that could use your help. From Dec. 27 to Dec. 31, we are providing brief descriptions of deserving charities and information about how you can contribute.

Under the AmeriCorps umbrella, Literacy Lab is an organization that believes in making sure that all youth can read. Many major cities, including Kansas City, have youth that struggle to read. Literacy Lab provides full-time tutors that assist children with reading through various exercises and activities to close the achievement gap. This organization focuses on children within the Pre-K through third grade to have the most impact.
