KC Live’s Theater-Size Video Screen Debuts for Big 12 Tournament

It’s become harder to leave the pre-game partying in the Kansas City Live! courtyard to walk over to the actual event at Sprint Center.
The Power & Light District has replaced its previous low-def screen with a theater-size panel that offers a much sharper image. If Thursday was any indication, the fans downtown for the Big 12 Basketball Tournament were enjoying the upgrade.
At more than 39 feet wide and 17 feet high, the new and improved screen is 150 percent larger, with more than three times the image quality than the previous screen mounted over the Kansa City Live! Block stage, according to a release from the P&L District.
“We are always looking to increase our guest experience here at Kansas City Live! We knew the time was coming to replace our aging LED screen, which was installed in 2012, so what better time than our 10- year anniversary,” Jason Bradley, production manager for the district, said in a statement.
Harvest Productions and Infinity Sign Systems, both Kansas City firms, installed the screen so it can be raised and lowered depending on the event staged below.
“The flexibility of the screen will allow us to be more innovative with our events, concerts and private events, and provide a truly incredible guest experience that is unrivaled in this market,” Bradley stated.
The sound system also has been upgraded with an D&B Audiotechnik sound system, according to the release.
