The National Collegiate Athletic Association agreed to settle a number of cases brought in a class-action head injury lawsuit. The proposed settlement, which must still be approved by a federal judge, would create a $70 million fund for concussion testing and diagnosis of current and former athletes. NewsHour’s Gwen Ifill talks to Rachel Axon of USA TODAY Sports about some lingering questions about the deal.
Former Chiefs players file concussions lawsuit before changes to workman’s compensation law. The NCAA ruling mentioned above was preceded by court action against the NFL by its players. For example, 22 former Chiefs players are suing the Kansas City Chiefs. In this video report, Ken McClain, a lawyer in the case, discusses the basis of the lawsuit.
