Adult Egg Hunt & Other Weekend Possibilities
March 29, 2018 | | 3 min read
Kids aren’t the only ones who enjoy a good egg hunt. Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery (11000 S. Woodland St., Olathe, Kansas) is hosting an After Dark Adult Egg Hunt from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday. Some eggs have candy, while others will be filled with wine-related goodies (certificates for tastings or glasses). Between 2 Buns food truck (burgers, hand-cut fries) will be on hand and wine slushes will be flowing.
Kansas City may be known outside of the city limits as a barbecue town. But those who live here know that we can get down on a cinnamon roll or donut (or six or an even dozen). Doughnut Lounge knows this, as well. The third location of Doughnut Lounge is now open at 1250 Burlington Ave. in North Kansas City, Missouri. The newest eatery slings donuts from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Doughnut Lounge also has locations in Westport (the original) and downtown Overland Park.

Keely Edgington Williams and Beau Williams, the wife and husband duo behind Julep Cocktail Club (4141 Pennsylvania Ave.), have opened a second pocket bar, inside their whiskey bar. Soft Conspiracy has a separate small plates menu and a reserve whiskey list. On Friday and Saturday between 6 p.m. and midnight in the transformed back room; you can make a reservation.
Açai bowls have hit the Midwest. Vitality Bowls is open at 11828 Roe Ave. in Leawood, Kansas. While Vitality Bowls serves salads, paninis, and smoothies, the restaurant’s calling is an açai bowl (a blend of the açai berry mixed with juice, coconut milk, or fruits, topped with granola and seeds or more fruit). The new shop serves from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Yankee Tank Brewing (807 E. 23rd St., Lawrence, Kansas) celebrates its third anniversary from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Yankee Tank’s brewers will be on hand for a quick tour. You can also snag a special anniversary beer or get a bite of smoked meats. Rip Tide Pale Ale and Red Dirt Country Ale are a few of their staples.
Amigoni Vineyards (1505 Genessee St.) has Urban Frizzante, a white wine on tap. Snag that and a cheese plate which also has rosemary fig jam from KC Canning Co. If you’re there on a Friday, walk down the street to the Genessee Royale Bistro (1531 Genessee St.). The breakfast and lunch spot does happy hour and appetizers until 7 p.m. (the bar stays open until 8 p.m.).
Also, just a note that as of last weekend Amigoni started offering open sign-up tours of the tasting room, barrel room, and wine cellar.
On Sunday, you can hunt your eggs and eat them too. Gram & Dun (600 Ward Parkway) hosts Easter Brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Easter menu includes apple fritters, short rib hash, burnt end macaroni and cheese, and lemon cake with cream cheese buttercream. Adults get three courses, kids under 12 years old can opt for two courses. After brunch, walk off a few calories by trying to find as many Easter bunnies as you can on the Plaza.
