Blip Blast Into Spring & Other Weekend Possibilities

We can make spring a reality if we all just believe a little. Here’s a way to fuel those positive vibes: Blip Blast, a vanilla cold brew bottled and sold by Blip Coffee Roasters (1101 Mulberry St.). The bottles arrived in the cooler in the West Bottoms shop earlier this week.

Why choose between cinnamon rolls and pancakes when you can have a cinnamon roll pancake. Ginger Sue’s, home of said breakfast alchemy, has added a fourth area location at 2820 W. 47th Ave. in Kansas City, Kansas. While the pancake flavors get exotic, the restaurant is a tour of classic breakfast (omelets, eggs benedict) and lunches (country fried steak, plenty of gravy). The new Ginger Sue’s is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Ginger Sue’s also has area eateries in Liberty (the first spot David Bradley and his wife Ginger Fuller opened in 2007), Lee’s Summit and Olathe.

Tour Missouri without ever leaving Kansas City at a Terra Vox wine and Green Dirt Farm cheese pairing from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The tasting, put on by Brookside Wine & Spirits, will be at the Oak Street Mansion (4343 Oak St.). After a tour of the house, winemaker Winifred Wright will lead attendees through a pairing of wine and sheep cheese.

Café Sebastienne’s executive chef Remy Ayesh is set to return to her roots this Saturday for Volume One: Lebanon. The five-course dinner, part of a new series at the café inside the Kemper Museum of Modern Art, will be inspired by the food that Ayesh’s grandmother made for her. Ayesh will be making cabbage dumplings, lamb tartare, and grape leaf wrapped red snapper. There is a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., and dinner starts at 7 p.m. Reservations are required.

Take a cue from Mr. Rogers, and go out and help your neighborhood. The Mister Rogers Kindness Crawl, put on by KCPT (hey, that’s us) and our community partners like ServeKC, is a crawl along the streetcar line from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The crawl, which begins at The Chesterfield inside the Alamo Drafthouse (1400 Main St.), includes acts of kindness like penning a letter to a senior or making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for someone in need. Tickets are $5, and the proceeds go toward supporting childrens’ programming at Kansas City PBS.

Feeling that Northland pride? Stop by Chicken and Pickle (1761 Burlington, North Kansas City, Missouri). The pickleball spot (a sport that’s like pingpong, stretched out, and sent to play outdoors) is hosting a North Kansas City Block Party on its rooftop bar from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Get a little bit of pie without the crust at Crane Brewing Company’s taproom (6515 Railroad St., Raytown, Missouri) from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Crane will release Pie Times, a collaboration beer with Torn Label Brewing Company, that counts paw paws, persimmons and cinnamon graham crackers among its ingredients.
