As a local photographer, filmmaker, and creative director, Brad Austin has been working to foster a sense of camaraderie and support among artists in the Kansas City area. And although his work has gone international, Austin has remained close to home, promoting the skilled and talented artists who live right here. Watch and enjoy two of his short documentaries that highlight two such artists.
Julie Hansen was born and raised in Kansas City, and much of her art is influenced by nature in the area. “I love being an artist in Kansas City! It’s my hometown and a great place to raise a family. With the beauty of the prairies so near, it is hard not to be inspired! I’ve noticed in my career as a professional, working artist, that Kansas Citians are very supportive and appreciative of the arts. I’m grateful to have had an opportunity to show my collection of work, The Prairie- Enduring and Endearing, at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art,” Hansen said. Jason Fewin is the owner of the Parkville Frame gallery, so he is in close contact with a lot of local art. In Austin’s documentary Fewin said, “I absolutely love this area, there’s still a ton of history and great people. I never want to leave this area, I just love it that much. What my goal is now is to bring a better focus on art in the Northland.” Watch his video below!
