Summer is here and it’s time to dine al fresco. Shawnee is hosting Parked, a food truck festival with fireworks and live music at Stump Park (4751 Woodland Drive, Shawnee, Kansas) tonight from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Werner’s, Drasko’s BBQ, Pita for Good, and the Taste of Brazil market will be among the food trucks in attendance. There will also be a beer garden serving beer and wine. The event is free — pay for what you eat and drink.

Harold’s (918 Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, Kansas) is hosting a Whiskey and Donut Tasting on Saturday from 9 to 11 p.m. The sampling is during the weekend of the Free State Film Festival and is meant to let folks chat about the films while digging into some donuts and whiskey. Tickets are $25.
Help invent new games and drink coffee. Flyover Indies is hosting a Study Hall, a brainstorming session designed to help independent game developers get together to discuss projects and ideas, at the Broadway Roasting Company (4102 Washington) on Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.
Late night tacos have arrived on 39th Street. Tiki Taco, a Tiki-themed taco hut, is open at 1710 W 39th St. in the former Smallcakes space. They’ve got elotes (street corn), street tacos garnished with chopped onions and cilantro, and churros.
Get to know your local wine and spirits makers. Jowler Creek Winery (16905 Jowler Creek Road, Platte City, Missouri) hosts a food and wine pairing and tour this Saturday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $19. Reservations and advance payment are required. Perhaps you’d like a nightcap? The Holladay Distillery Night Tour is this Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. It’s an opportunity to learn about the historic bourbon maker, tour the grounds at night, sample bourbon at different points of aging, munch on light bites, and have a pair of cocktails. Tickets are $75.
Repeal 18th Bar and Bistro (1825 Buchanan, North Kansas City, Missouri) is open. They’ve got pork belly nachos, sunchoke and bone marrow dip with rye chips, prosciutto and fig jam flatbread, and monkfish corndogs. The cocktail menu is divided into classic (old fashioned, whiskey sour, Moscow mule) and seasonal (Summer in NKC is Restless Spirits’ Builders Gin, strawberry, and sparkling wine) drinks.
