KC Bier Co.’s Anniversary & Other Weekend Possibilities

February 10, 2017  |    |  2 min read

Time flies when you’re drinking beer. KC Bier Company (310 W. 79 St) is celebrating its third anniversary from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Feb. 11. Over the course of the day, they’ll be rotating 20 beers through their taps. Right now, they’ve got a Doppel Alt on tap that is dry-hopped. It’s got a strong malt backbone with a citrus nose and slightly bitter finish.

Independence Square is hosting its annual Chocolate Walk from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Walk the square in Independence and participating — identified by a heart-shaped balloon out front — will offer you a bite or sip of chocolate-inspired goodness.

You had me at bourbon and chocolate. Brookside Wine & Spirits (600 E. 63 St.) is hosting a Four Roses bourbon and Lile Wines tasting from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The wine and bourbon will be paired with Christopher Elbow chocolates.

Lifted Spirits Distillery (1734 Cherry St.) wants to teach you how to infuse your booze with everything from coffee to herbs to jalapeno. The class from 4 to 5 p.m. is free, but it’s $15 if you want to try five different Lifted Spirits’ infusions.

Cee-Cee’s Sweet Creations will be holding a Cupcake Extravaganza at Soul Lounge (9916 Holmes Road) from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. You can dig into banana pudding, pink champagne or strawberry lemonade — one of more than a dozen cupcake flavors — or candy apples that will also be for sale.

The Buhs are hosting their third annual Mardi Gras Party: A Summer Cookout at the Holy Cow Market and Music (3109 Gillham Road) at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. There will be live music from The Buhs, as well as summer cocktails from Bluestem’s Andrew Olsen and Z-man brats from The Rieger’s Howard Hanna.

Hooray for cookies and beer. Grain to Glass (1611 Swift Ave.) is hosting a Girl Scout cookies and beer pairing session. You get four beers and their cookie pairings for $15  from 2 to 4 p.m on Sunday.

Slept on Valentine’s Day shopping? No worries. Stop by the Valentine Gypsy Market at The Bauer (115 W. 18 St.) from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. There will be cocktails from Snake Oil and Bun Bros’ fare (steamed buns and curry and rice), as well as plenty of goods from local artists and makers for sale.
