Eat Local Expo & Other Weekend Possibilities

Now you can find a local farm (or farmer) to love. The 19th annual Eat Local + Organic Expo, hosted by the Kansas City Food Circle, returns this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Johnson County Community College (12345 College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas). Farmers will be on hand to sell greens, herbs, free-range meat, as well as to chat about community supported agriculture subscriptions. Every hour, on the hour, they’ll have a 15-minute workshop on how to eat local.
The Roasterie’s monthly food truck brunch returns this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot across from their factory (1204 W 27th Street). Tito’s BBQ, Slater’s, El Tenedor, and Pita for Good will be on hand. You can also have coffee drinks and Sporting KC is bringing a mobile futsal court.

Can I Have a Bite (633 E 63rd Street) is celebrating its grand opening on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Owner Kathy Hale focuses on creating interesting dishes for folks with specific dietary needs: paleo, vegan, and vegetarian. Can I Have a Bite serves up soup, sandwiches, salads, and also has a healthy belly bar with kombucha, teas, and tonics.
