9 Droolworthy Dishes From Downtown Lawrence Restaurant Week
January 23, 2019 | Cody Boston | 2 min read
With duck fat fries and flights of cocktails, the fifth annual Downtown Lawrence Restaurant Week is willing to push your culinary boundaries. Eateries on and off Massachusetts Street are offering unique specials, prix fixe (fixed-priced) menus and CBD cocktails through this Saturday, Jan. 26. We set Cody Boston, a contributor to Flatland, loose for a weekend in Lawrence, Kansas. Enjoy.

The CBD-infused guava mimosa and Maui Wowie Acai Bowl, which pairs white chocolate chips magnificently with fresh kiwi and slivers of frozen acai, is available at Wake the Dead. It’s one of the most refreshing breakfasts I’ve had in quite a while.

The Walk-o-Tacos from Taco Zone top crunchy Fritos with roasted garlic hongos (mushrooms) or grilled chile chorizo & potato.

The Celery-Brate Good Times is a veggie burger special at The Burger Stand made with panko-fried celery root and topped with goat cheese, sauerkraut slaw and black truffle butter.

The Burger Stand’s duck fat fries come topped with cheese curds and duck fat gravy. It’s their take on poutine.

The Burger Stand’s Keep it 1000 is a dry-aged burger patty accompanied by steak sauce, caramelized shallots and Swiss cheese.

Zen Zero has a three-course prix fixe menu. The spinach momos are packed with mushrooms, garlic and paneer cheese.

The Mahi Mahi Tandoori-style at Zen Zero features a spectacular curry and surprisingly flavorful greens.

The intensely rich chocolate flan at Zen Zero is served with a sweet chili sauce that flirted with the Scoville scale.
