The “Denverization” of Westport is continuing with the planned opening early next year of Snooze, a breakfast place that will occupy a building under construction at 4140 Broadway next to Ale House.
The new restaurant, its full name is Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, will join 38 other Snoozes around the nation operated by the Denver-based firm.
The first Snooze was opened in Denver in 2006 by “breakfast-loving brothers” Jon and Adam Schlegel, according to a press release.
“By doing ‘Breakfast But Different’ Snooze has the power to make a real difference in every community they live in,” the release stated.
“Through community involvement and sustainable practices, Snooze is on a mission to make the world a better place one pancake at a time.”
Snooze will be joining another Denver-based firm staking its claim in Westport.
Atomic Provisions announced earlier this year it will be opening a Denver Biscuit Co., Fat Sully’s pizzeria and Frozen Gold ice cream in the historic City Ice Building at 4141 Mill St.
Snooze describes itself as not doing breakfast as usual. It’s hours will be from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. seven days a week and it will offer variations on a variety of breakfast standards.

The menu will include Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, Breakfast Pot Pie and Snooze Spuds Deluxe. Patrons also can create their own customized breakfast blends with different types of pancakes and egg dishes.
There’s also breakfast cocktails that include the usual Bloody Mary and Mimosa, but also coffee-based cocktails and morning margaritas, according to the release.
The firm prides itself on its sustainable environmental practices and its philanthropy.
In 2018, Snooze donated over $800,000 to local and national charities, and is set to give back over $1 million in 2019.
It donates 100 percent of all pancake sales on National Pancake Day to help develop and nurture local community gardens, according to the release.
One percent of all sales from each location goes to local charities through the donation of in-kind goods and services.
The 5,000 square-foot Snooze is being built by Centric construction and expects to be completed by early 2020. It will include both indoor seating and an outdoor patio.
