SantaCon Lawrence & Other Weekend Possibilities

All the Santas will descend on Lawrence this weekend. SantaCon Lawrence is from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The Saint Nick-themed pub crawl kicks off at The Sandbar (17 E 8th St., Lawrence, Kansas) and a $5 contribution for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Douglas County is recommended.

You have another coffee option for your morning commute. The Roasterie has opened at 4231 Main St. in a space adjacent to H&R Block. The new café has a drive-thru and will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The café will have pastries from Baked in Kansas City.

Restless Spirits Distilling (109 E. 18th Ave., North Kansas City, Missouri) has a pair of new whiskeys: Sons of Erin 15-year Single Malt Irish Whiskey and GullyTown Single Malt Whiskey. Sons of Erin is imported from Dundalk, Ireland. Owners Mike and Benay Shannon — Benay is the master distiller — traveled to Ireland to pick out the barrels. GullyTown was made at Restless Spirits. It has hints of butterscotch and smoke, as well as vanilla and honey notes. The distillery’s tasting room will have holiday hours, including 3 to 9 p.m. Friday and 12 to 9 p.m. Saturday through Dec. 23.

The Sundry’s new location is open in the Plexpod Westport Commons co-working space (300 E. 39th St.). The restaurant and market relocated from the Crossroads to Midtown and the new space is part of The Sundry’s evolution.

“Our big crazy dream with The Sundry is to build a sustainable American food system. A huge piece of that is making high quality food accessible to more people,” owner Ryan Wing said. “Our new Midtown location is surrounded by amazing neighborhoods that have had limited access to both prepared food and grocery options.”

Wing will use the new space to develop The Sundry Food Lab, a food product incubator designed to develop new products — like The Sundry’s soda, which will be bottled — to bring to market. The Sundry serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, alongside beer, wine, and cocktails.

MiDiCi (8815 State Line) has a grand opening Saturday in the Ward Parkway Restaurant Pavilion, the newly opened space attached to the Ward Parkway Center with Charleston’s and Smitty’s Garage. MiDiCi is a fast casual, Neapolitan-style pizza concept out of Los Angeles. The two-year-old chain serves up margherita pizzas, burrata (a mozzarella ball with cream inside), and Nutella calzones.

The 12 Bars of Christmas is from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday in downtown Lee’s Summit. The pub crawl, a benefit for Hope House, begins at Sharkeez at 2 p.m. and ends at LLywelyn’s Pub from 9 to 10 p.m. Lanyards, which make you eligible for prizes, are $10 (cash only, available at Grains and Taps and Stuey McBrew’s). The pub crawl includes novelty alcoholic drinks like the Apple Pie shot at Konrad’s Kitchen and an ugly sweater contest at Tap House and Smoke Brewing Co.

Thou Mayest (419 E 18th St.) is hosting a holiday market from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday. The third year for Thouholiday Mart will feature Heirloom Bakery pastries, a collaboration brew with Torn Label, and handmade goods from Normal Human, Tyler Kingston Mercantile, and sewKC, among others.

Call it a new take on a winter warmer. Velo Garage & Tap House (1403 Swift St., North Kansas City) hosts a Chili and Beer Ride from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. It’s a chili cook-off, bike ride, and chance to toast your success in the kitchen and on the road all in one day.

The Modernists, the Young Friends of the National World War I Museum & Memorial, are hosting a Holiday Brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Affare (1911 Main St.). They’ll have light appetizers and then you can plunge into mimosas and brunch. After the brunch, there’s a free showing of “Joyeux Noel” at the WWI Museum (2 Memorial Drive) at 2 p.m.
