curiousKC | Kicking Off Black History Month With Stories You Helped Us Find

February 1, 2021  |  Vicky Diaz-Camacho  |  2 min read

Black history is woven into the very fabric of Kansas City.

To jog our memories at the beginning of Black History Month, the curiousKC team has curated stories that you, our devoted readers, have asked us to investigate. You sent us your questions, participated in our community-powered series curiousKC, and allowed Flatland to tell the stories you most wanted to learn about.

Below, in chronological order, are some of our most notable curiousKC stories that have focused on Black history in Kansas City. These stories range from famous sports teams and almost forgotten neighborhoods to rich family histories and the ongoing pursuit of social justice.
