Crossroads Chiropractor Expands to Serve Growing Downtown Demand for Healthcare

Downtown’s fast-growing population and resulting demand for more healthcare services has prompted Crossroads Chiropractic & Wellness to relocate to new space almost twice the size of its original location.
The new 5,000 square-foot clinic at 1808 McGee St. opened last October, eight years after Dr. Jessica Taylor D.C. decided to take a chance on downtown and open her original clinic at 1520 Walnut.
“There was hole in the middle of the chiropractors in the area when we opened in 2009,” she said.
“Since then, downtown has grown like gangbusters, more businesses, more restaurants, the whole mindset has shift with the influx of people living and working here.”
Taylor was taking a break her office at the new facility. The interior is divided into several small therapy rooms with a comfortable waiting area. The outside features a landscaped patio.
The staff includes three chiropractors, a medical doctor who specializes in holistic medicine, a wellness therapist and receptionists.
The new location of Crossroads Chiropractic & Wellness Center is at 1808 McGee.
In addition to a full range of chiropractic adjustments, health services include active release technique (ART), acupuncture, cold laser therapy, Graston therapy, Kinesio taping and physiotherapy.
“We’re passionate about educating the downtown and Crossroads community on wellness,” Taylor said.
“We’re here to help individuals reach their health and wellness goals whether that is to get out of pain, have better posture, train for a marathon without injury or just preventing future aches and pain.”
Taylor’s started her working life in advertising and she graduated from the University of Missouri with a business degree.
But after a couple years, she wanted something more.
“I liked the idea of helping people and I met a friend who was in chiropractor school,” she said. “That hit home so I quit my job and moved back to Kansas City.”
She earned her chiropractic degree from the Cleveland Chiropractic College in 2008.
Being a pioneering chiropractor in downtown Kansas City has worked out well.
“Things have been great,” Taylor said. “We love downtown and we love the Crossroads.”
