City Barrel Brewing Plans Fall Opening

The Crossroads will be the home of another microbrewery this fall when City Barrel Brewing Co. opens in a historic building at 1916 Grand Blvd.
The microbrewery, which will specialize in “hoppy, wild and sour beers,” according to its Facebook page, is being started by two craft beer industry veterans, James Stutsman and Grant Waner.
Stutsman was Midwest market manager for Oregon-based Deschutes Brewery and Waner is regional sales manager for Manhattan-based Tallgrass Brewing Co. The City Barrel Facebook page also lists Joe Giammanco as a co-founder.
Attempts to reach the co-founders for comment were unsuccessful.
The vacant building which will house City Barrel is located next door to long-time downtown retailer Bob Jones Shoes. It was built in 1915 as part of the historic Automobile Row district.
City Barrel joins a growing microbrew scene in the Crossroads Arts District. Casual Animal recently opened at 1725 McGee, becoming the fifth microbrewery in the East Crossroads.
