Broadway Bistro Adds Jazzy New Vibe to Quality Hill Corner

A new bistro and speakeasy bar with plenty of live music on the side have opened in a historic Garment District building at 10th and Broadway in the Quality Hill neighborhood.
Broadway Bistro, which offers a full-service breakfast, lunch and dinner menu all week including a Sunday brunch buffet, debuted a week ago and is planning an open house event Nov. 22. It’s on the first floor of the building at 1000 Broadway.
The bistro was preceded by Hush, a basement speakeasy that seats 120 people, that opened about a month ago.
And in the new tradition of the downtown speakeasy world, it has an entrance off the alley behind the old building.
Both ventures bring new energy to a six-story building that’s been used for banquets and other social events. The Garment House on Broadway property is owned by Price Brothers, developers better known for their apartment projects around the metro.
Ramiro Noboa brings 30 years of experience in the dining industry, primarily in catering, to the Broadway Bistro and is joined by Caleb Coop on the entertainment side for the bistro and speakeasy.
“We’re featuring classic American cuisine with a European flair,” Noboa said.
The Hush speakeasy seats 120 people in a club atmosphere.
The space occupied by the bistro had been slated to be an Eggctra restaurant at one point, but that plan fell through. The Broadway Bistro will feature a full breakfast menu including egg platters, omelettes, Eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy.
The lunch and dinner menu includes appetizers, Spanish Paella, Honey Citrus Salmon and seared pork chops, a variety of burger, sandwiches and dinner salads.
The Sunday brunch includes bottomless mimosas and buffet table that includes an omelette station and carving station.
Bistro hours throughout the week are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Hush hours are Thursday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.
The Hush will primarily feature live jazz and/or vocalists until about 11 p.m. and then a DJ for the later hours with an emphasis on late funk and neo-soul, according to Coop. Friday night will be salsa night.
Live music also will be featured on the Broadway Bistro stage Fridays and Saturdays from 6- to 10 p.m., and Sundays as well.
The upper floors of the Garment House on Broadway building will continue to be used for banquet and event space.
