Big Creek Country Show Brings A Little Branson To Pleasant Hill

August 28, 2019  |  Jacob Douglas  |  2 min read

You can’t beat classic.

If you’re hankering for a local dose of Branson, perhaps even an echo of old-school Nashville, consider a short drive to Pleasant Hill, Missouri, on a Saturday night. That’s where you’ll find the Big Creek Country Show.

“It’s like a Branson show,” says Dennis Dittemore, co-owner, emcee and performer. “It’s a professional show.”

The classic country music revue has been operating out of the historic Peoples Theater at 110 Veterans Parkway in downtown Pleasant Hill since 1982. After drawing an opening-night crowd of 450, the Big Creek Country Show has established itself as something of a local institution, both for performers and audiences. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. every Saturday night.

“It’s like a big family down here,’’ Dittemore says. “They all know each other. They can’t wait until the next Saturday, so they can get together and talk about what they’ve done during the week.”
