Artists in Residence: Kansas City Symphony Ponders Beethoven’s Drinking Habits

And now for some things that are completely different.
“Artists in Residence” today visits with three members of the Kansas City Symphony about what they’re up to during the stay-at-home order forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The symphony has just announced that it has canceled the remaining performances of the 2019/20 season, including the annual Bank of America Celebration at the Station in front of Union Station. The symphony hopes to resume a full 2020/21 performance schedule in the fall “as conditions permit.”
“While canceling the rest of the season is a decision we do not take lightly, it is undoubtedly necessary in order to do our part in limiting the spread of coronavirus,” Symphony Executive Director Danny Beckley said in a statement.
“We care deeply about our audiences, musicians and staff, and we have their health and safety in mind. The entire organization yearns for live symphonic music, and we look forward to being together again in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. And, now more than ever, we need the community’s support.”
In the meantime, the symphony has launched a brand new podcast, entitled — no joke — “Beethoven Walks into a Bar…” The free podcast is now available on all the major podcast hosting services.
