Artists in Residence: Ari Fish’s ‘Moment of Repose’

May 5, 2020  |    |  1 min read

For installation artist Ari Fish, this pandemic-imposed stay-at-home moment is a vivid reminder of the “impermanence” of art.

Fish has an installation at the Crossroads Hotel in Kansas City, as well as works in Seattle and Palm Springs, in some form of limbo as a result of the coronavirus. Even so, she’s taking it all in stride during this “moment of repose.”

Fish, a product of the Kansas City Art Institute, is a Charlotte Street Foundation visual artist fellow and a two-time recipient of the ArtsKC inspiration grant. She’s not constrained by any particular media, as she makes clear in the attached video.

“I feel like I’m doing OK,” she says. “I think we’re all kind of symbiotically reacting in unison… I feel very inspired.”
