Topeka-based Architect One has opened a two-person office in the Crossroads Arts District that can accommodate more staff when needed to handle Kansas City area projects.
The 1,200 square-foot office at 1919 Wyandotte opened last week. Architect One has 17 employees and also has an office in Manhattan.
“We chose the general location due to the creative spirit already in place within Kansas City’s Crossroads district,” Christopher Mitchell, principal and manager, said in a statement.
“Our interior space is essentially an open studio, similar in nature to the surrounding art galleries and, more importantly, the architecture studios we experienced as students.”
Scott Gales, CEO and president, said his firm has a growing list of clients in greater Kansas City and the new location allows the firm to have a permanent presence in the market, according to a press release.
Current local projects include: a development package for an existing building at 209 W. 19th Terrace; a renovation and addition to a Lake Lotawana estate house built in the 1930s, and master planning and design for an interior renovation and new addition at the Country Club Christian Church.
The planning efforts coincide with the church’s upcoming yearlong Centennial celebration.
