Parkville Microbrew Festival and Other Weekend Possibilities

The 13th-annual Parkville Microbrew Fest is Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at English Landing Park. You can enter the festival at 11 a.m., but sampling doesn’t start until 1 p.m. There are live music acts and more than 300 beers from 69 breweries (and seven home brewers) to try. Tickets are $36 in advance (and $45 at the gate, cash only).

Feel like starting your day a little earlier? S.D. Strong Distilling (8500 N.W. River Park Drive, Pillar 136, Parkville, Missouri) is hosting Cocktails & Coffee from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday in the underground cave where they distill gin and vodka. Note: It’s a cash bar.

Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery (11000 S. Woodland St., Olathe, Kansas) celebrates the sixth anniversary of its tasting room from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. There will be complimentary samples of five wines and dessert from The Funnel Cake Truck. Oh, and they make wine slushies there …

Need more seafood in your life? Martin City Brewing Company’s second-annual shrimp boil begins Saturday at 3 p.m. The event is at the nearby Martin Event Space (13440 Holmes Road). Tickets ($15), which are all you can eat or until the shrimp runs out (whichever comes first), are available at the door.

The Brookside Art Annual is this weekend, and Golden & Pine (633 E. 63rd St.) is hosting an Artists & Artisans session Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. to celebrate. Meet Megan Leong and Jen Hurst, and have bites from Unbakery and Juicery and cocktails by The Campground.

Things will be hopping for the Wornall Majors House Museums this weekend. At the Alexander Majors House & Barn (8201 State Line Road), the second-annual Spring Swing — think Etsy in person — is Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over at the John Wornall House (6115 Wornall Road), they’ll be holding their annual herb and wildflower sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Food truck season is upon us. Little Piggy food truck hub opens Sunday (12 to 5 p.m. at 3014 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri), and the Blue Valley Recreational Food Truck Fest (137th Street and Antioch Road, Overland Park, Kansas) is the same day from 4 to 7 p.m. You’ll have to pick from seven trucks — Drasko’s, Prairie Fire Oven (wood-fired pizza) and CoffeeCakeKC among them. So, now you’ve got lunch and dinner plans.

Things are better with collaboration. The Waffle Iron is holding a pop-up at Port Fonda Lawrence (900 New Hampshire St., Lawrence, Kansas) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. You get to pick a waffle and a topping — everything from blueberry lemon curd to blackberry tarragon (tarragon-infused blackberry compote, Danish cream drizzle, toasted Marshmallow Fluff).
