Downtown Overland Park Farmers Market & Other Weekend Possibilities

Farmers’ market season is back. The Downtown Overland Park Farmers Market (7950 Marty St., Overland Park, Kansas) is holding its season opening from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Fill your bag with greens, olive oil, jams, meats and cheese. Keep an eye out for Easter eggs in downtown Overland Park, which are filled with prizes like a $5 market coupon.

Adults can get in on Easter puns too. Hoppy Hour arrives at Bier Station (120 E. Gregory Blvd) from 4 to 6 tonight, as Martin City Brewing Company releases Radical Candor — a hazy double IPA. They’ll also have Banging the Enemy, Hard Way IPA, and Blond on tap.

Enjoy a summer classic as the Olathe Parks & Recreation Department (1205 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe, Kansas) presents an outdoor showing of “The Sandlot,” from 7:30 to 10 tonight. They’ll have free popcorn and drinks while supplies last.

Rapunzel dreams of the lights in “Tangled,” and once all those candles take flight, it’s easy to understand the appeal. Create your own magic at The Lights Festival at Fahrmeier Farms (9364 Mitchell Trail, Lexington, Missouri) from 3:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. They’ll have food trucks, live music, and sky lanterns at a festival that’s designed to bring us all together under the lights. Tickets are $45.

Life is best with a glass of wine in your hand. The Delaware Street Wine Walk returns from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. You get a wristband and a map of participating spots, where you can taste wine and check out local art. Tickets ($15) are available at The Farmhouse, Cafe Al Dente, and Market 3.

The Missouri Pit Bull Rescue is hosting a Funday at Kelly’s Westport Inn (500 Westport Road) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. A $10 wristband gets you happy hour specials on drafts and well drinks, as well as some sweets from Great Cakes KC.

Easter brunches abound. If you’ve been forestalling a decision, you might consider heading over to the Freight House to a spot that will make your family think you did plan ahead (and, perhaps more importantly, still has seats available). Lidia’s Kansas City (101 W. 22nd St.) has a three-course prix fixe brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Easter Sunday. The lineup includes crostini with crab, Caesar salad, the pasta trio (papardelle with beef short rib ragu is your overindulgence candidate), and a milk chocolate and cappuccino semi-freddo.
